I will ask you to consider only one thing. If Michael Irvin (who at least played against the person in question) Jason Sehorn (he was a starting cornerback for NY Giants until he got hurt and is being converted to safety) were considered to be overrated and given media preferential treatment because he is white (most starting cornerbacks in recent years have been black), I think he could be accused of racism.... Please tell me what the difference is with what Rush said... I think he may be a racist but I am aware that there are eloquent arguments against. I would also be willing to grant him the benefit of the doubt and say that he did not intent to make anyone feel bad... However, I think his unwillingness to step up and defend his position in a forum where he does not control the mike raises questions...

He has the right to say whatever he wants but does he not also need to take responsibility for what he says...

I have stated on several occassions that he should not have resigned because he needs an adequate opportunity to show what he can do....

I also think that if he had stepped up and answered his critics in a place where he is not in control, he would have been perceived as someone who is misunderstood and we could have proceeded to have an intelligient discussion about a very important issue....

He has become the story and there is something wrong with that. I am not sure whether it is his fault or other reporters but I would like to see him show some grit and advance rather than retreat...

I congratulate you for your invitation and I wish you the best in your presentation but I would prefer to see Rush doing his own talking...

On the drug issue, I am taking a wait and see approach because I think everyone, regardless of their views, deserves impartiality and the presumption of innocence...
