There was a woman in line in front of us with long fake nails and my daughter said "Eew, Mommy, look at her nails", all creeped out. I said yes I know they're long aren't they and then muttered Rod Stewart.

xsboy's 6th grade science teacher requires that they do EARTHWATCH activities as a part of their science grade. it is optional of all of the other classes. i resent like hell this earthwatching crap! what a typical FALLS cHURCH thing it is for them to do. recycle, reduce, reuse. make a msg pad for next to the phone by recycling paper that is only written on one side etc. i already do that with all of the paper that comes home from school, but i just hate the exalting the earthwatching like it was GAIA worship!

Good, he would be sporting some nailmarks in his arm from me strongarming him too! Strong-arming is frowned upon in judo. You could break an arm that way.

Ten democrats, whom I abhor
Are all fighting to be the next Gore
But this time, a runaway
Will take all their fun away
Won't need judges to add up the score
Runaway?
As I walk along, I wonder...

but i just hate the exalting the earthwatching like it was GAIA worship! I'd object on seperation of church and state. They are earth worshippers, almost as primitive as moon worshipers.

One of my favorite songs, by the way..
A love that was so strong.
And as I walk along I think of the things we'd done together
When our hearts were young..
Okay, next-who's going to fill in the next lines?

We recycle, but I'm not familiar with any "earthwatching". Is it a radical form of recycling? The rabid stuff is like Gaia worship, isn't it? Silly....

it is
local, apparently. recycling is fine, but this kind of stuff just grates on me bc i see the birkenstock wearing falls churchers and think EARTHWATCH. Falls Church is very liberal and annoying.

Thanks for the link-it does seem rather like something for the Birkenstock crowd. Here in Texas, that same bunch are also NIMBYs-they're all for progress, as long as they don't have to see a power station, fire or police station or parking lot near their precious neighborhood. But it's okay to devalue everyone elses' property with noise, traffic, etc. They are also all for raising city taxes for every neighborhood but theirs. I just call them "hypocrites". Those types were a huge factor in our decision to build and move out here, rather than in the city. No NIMBYs or Birkenstock dilettantes out here.
