The GUILD 9-29-2003 My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys

Posted on 09/29/2003 10:13:55 AM PDT by Hillary's Lovely Legs

1. They were never looking for trouble.

2. But when trouble came, they faced it with courage.

3. They were always on the side of right.

4. They defended good people against bad people.

5. They had high morals.

6. They had good manners.

7. They were honest.

8. They spoke their minds and they spoke the truth, regardless of what people thought or "political correctness," which no one had ever heard of back then.

9. They were a beacon of integrity in the wild, wild West.

10. They were respected. When they walked into a saloon (where they usually drank only sarsaparilla), the place became quiet, and the bad guys kept their distance.

11. If in a gunfight, they could outdraw anyone. If in a fist fight, they could beat up anyone.

12. They always won. They always got their man. In victory, they rode off into the sunset.

heheh - DeCoster's hog factories are out of control.

Free range hogs are another matter, imo.

Good to see that the bondage club is firing back up at ISU.

Laura, listen up to HLL on the fashion front...what happened to the White House weight watcher's club?

Cheers guys.

Hand Maria a ham sandwich or 3. I watched Arrianna on LKL (better known as "IS Larry King Alive") last night. When did she become David Brock?

"They are against food."

Huh? When Bustamove loses next week, perhaps he can get a job as spokesman for Clark or Dean.

I saw Maria last week, I think, on Oprah, and she looked wonderful!

Of course, Oprah has the most excellent make-up people in the known world.

FW: No Turning Back

There was a feud between the Pastor and the Choir Director of The Hicksville Southern Baptist Church.

It seems the first hint of trouble came when the Pastor preached on "dedicating yourselves to service" and the Choir Director chose to sing: "I Shall Not Be Moved."

Trying to believe it was a coincidence; the Pastor put the incident behind him. The next Sunday he preached on "giving". Afterwards, the choir squirmed as the director led them in the hymn: "Jesus Paid It All."

By this time, the Pastor was losing his temper. Sunday morning attendance swelled as the tension between the two built. A large crowd showed up the next week to hear his sermon on "the sin of gossiping". Would you believe the Choir Director selected: "I Love To Tell the Story."

There was no turning back. The following Sunday the Pastor told the congregation that unless something changed he was considering resignation. The entire church gasped when the Choir Director led them in: "Why Not Tonight."

Truthfully, no one was surprised when the Pastor resigned a week later; explaining that Jesus had led him there and Jesus was leading him away.

The Choir Director could not resist: "What a Friend We Have in Jesus."

A friend sent me these:

A Three year old's prayer:

"Our Father, Who does art in heaven, Harold is His name. Amen."

A little boy was overheard praying: "Lord, if you can't make me a better boy, don't worry about it. I'm having a real good time like I am."

A. Sunday school class was studying the Ten Commandments. They were ready to discuss the last one. The teacher asked if anyone could tell her what it was. Susie raised her hand, stood tall, and quoted, "Thou shall not take the covers off the neighbor's wife."

After the christening of his baby brother in church, Jason sobbed all the way home in the back seat of the car.

His father asked him three times what was wrong. Finally, the boy replied, "That preacher said he wanted us brought up in a Christian home, and I wanted to stay with you guys."

I had been teaching my three-year old daughter, Caitlin, the Lord's Prayer for several evenings at bedtime, she would repeat after me the lines from the prayer. Finally, she decided to go solo. I listened with pride as she carefully enunciated each word right up to the end of the prayer: "Lead us not into temptation," she prayed, "but deliver us some E-mail. Amen."

And one particular four-year-old prayed, "And forgive us our trash baskets as we forgive those who put trash in our baskets."

A Sunday school teacher asked her children, as they were on the way to church service, "And why is it necessary to be quiet in church?" One bright little girl replied, Because people are sleeping."

Six-year-old Angie and her four-year-old brother Joel were sitting together in church. Joel giggled, sang, and talked out loud. Finally, his big sister had had enough. You're not supposed to talk out loud in church." "Why? Who's going to stop me?" Joel asked. Angie pointed to the back of the church and said. "See those two men standing by the door? They're hushers."

A mother was preparing pancakes for her sons, Kevin, 5, Ryan 3. The boys began to argue over who would get the first pancake.

Their mother saw the opportunity for a moral lesson. "If Jesus were sitting here, He would say, 'Let my brother have the first pancake, I can wait.'"

Kevin turned to his younger brother and said, "Ryan, you be Jesus!"

A father was at the beach with his children when the four- year-old son ran up to him, grabbed his hand, and led him to the shore where a seagull lay dead in the sand. " Daddy, what happened to him?" the son asked. "He died and went to Heaven," the Dad replied. The boy thought a moment and then said, "Did God throw him back down?"

A wife invited some people to dinner. At the table, she turned to their six-year-old daughter and said, "Would you like to say the blessing?"

"I wouldn't know what to say," the girl replied. "Just say what you hear Mommy say," the wife answered.

Then her daughter bowed her head and said, "Lord, why on earth did I invite all these people to dinner?"

Oh Lod, I laughed out loud on the choir director joke. My dad was a pastor and something tells me this choir director wouldn't have lasted 10 minutes with him.

This is a goofy story, to me.

Why was a clintonista sent anywhere for this admin.? (Why are so many of them still around?)

Why was not his report accepted, or verified?

Who committed treason by burning dude's wife?

Politics - the dirtiest of all sports.

From another site:

The issue ain't too complex. Bob Novak already reported that he had conversations with "two senior administration officials." So, someone leaked this stuff to him.

His latter-day explanation reeks of so much bullsh*t. (HE'S LYING.)

But IF he's lying and made up this whole story, he should never again write for any magazine or newspaper, ever again, in his life.

If he's NOT LYING, then someone (or persons) in the Bush Admin must go down.

It's not brain surgery.

Either Novak falls, or falls one or two "senior administration officials."

I don't know what logical deficiency befalls most human readers on this issue.

Politcs - the dirtiest game in town...Lord help us all.

We just pay for all of it.

Cheers.

I dunno JL. I don't think it's going to be as simple as what you've laid out.

In order to get to the Administration Officials, somebody (Novak) need to tell the investigators just WHO these officials are. Novak will never reveal his sources, so we may never know WHO/WHAT/WHEN,,, of course we've already figured out WHY.

It is very possible the Administration Officials are some hold over Rats from the Clintooon Admin. I will be anxious to hear what Sean Hannity has to say tonite. Rush spent more time defending himself today than covering the Wilsons.

It was interesting to listen to Bill Kristol tonight on Fox. He said that this is indicative of a civil war within the Admin - the "Bush Doves" (my words) slamming the "Bush Hawkes" (read Dick Cheney according to Kristol) for getting the Pres into the Iraq war with old (1998) intelligence. CIA could be involved with the smear too, as could State, according to Kristol.

I tend to think Bill knows a thing or two about backbiting administrative factions since I believe he was involved in such during GHW Bushe's admin.
