I think you hit it when you said that their statements and criticisms are juvenile. Natalie Maines didn't say that she disagreed with President Bush's policies on Iraq, she said she was ashamed of him, on foreign soil no less. They also denounced the awesome country song "Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue" (a must-listen song for any Freeper) because the song dared to be politically incorrect. While they have a right to their opinions, they, as public figures, have a responsibility to voice them in intelligent statements, not brainless name-calling. In spite of their talent and beauty, the Dixie Chicks got exactly what they deserved.

Bingo. All of their tantrums to date have been only a sliver less juvenile than "I think Bush is a poopy-head".
