Autumn Serenade
The sound of the leaves
Picked up by the wind
Crackling and skipping
And set down again
The branches are swaying
And the the kids laugh with glee
As they bound into mountains
Of crisp autumn leaves
Mom's tart apple cobbler
Laced with sweetened fresh cream
And pumpkins and scarecrows
Make a memorable scene
The harvest is ready
To be gathered in
Before winter's frost
And long nights without end
I'm thankful for the bounty
Set before me this day
And I thank God in heaven
For this autumn seranade

Memories Tide
Come with me friend, and sail away,
among time and tides of yesterday.
Remember when our fathers rode,
the sailing ships of long ago.
We steer among the stars this night,
across the memories floating wide.
And we will course of long ago,
tall greyhound ships and compass rose.
Come sail old shipmate, upon this dream,
our course we chart beyond the green.
With anchor raised and sails filled wide,
we sail this night on memories tide.

Today's poem:
The Storm in My Heart
Your words whispered to me
Touch like a kittens paw
On my necks nape
Fervently, they wash over me
Like ocean spray
And nestle deep within me.
Listening, emptying my mind
Your words stir in me,
Creating a storm in my heart.
Reaching for a tentative touch,
A comforting embrace,
A hand to guide me;
Wanting nothing more
Than to please, to serve
To always listen and obey.
And then, those whispered words
Envelope me like a
Cool mountain breeze.
To dampen my burning fears,
To show me peace,
To quell the storm in my heart.
Because those whispered words
Tell me to love and trust
You above all, oh my Lord.
