I think the parallel, Colt, was with the opposition party's attacks on the President who was trying to keep the Union together (though I am aware that there are those who disagree that that is what he was doing).

President Bush is trying to keep this nation from being destroyed by terrorists, and a very DISloyal opposition's goal is to destroy HIM, at the expense of the safety of the nation.

There is nothing IMO more important at this time in your history than The War On Terror. As what is at stake is nothing less than our way of life. If (incert whatever piece of legislation here) passes or flails, if so and so is/isn't confirmed to the federal/state bench, the nation will go on maybe better maybe worse but it will go on. But if we lose this war it is IMO the end of our nation and way of life. And a new dark age will desend on the world.
When OBL and those like him speak we would do well to take them very seriously, because they/he mean what they say.

I haven't agreed with W on every social issue and I've seen very little current or historical evidence of Islam being a religion of peace, but what I have observed overall impresses me. He knows how to choose his battles wisely! Both foreign and domestic. He has focus. He doesn't waiver. He can delegate. Like Reagan, he's not afraid to surround himself with powerful, knowledgeable people -- and he listens to their opinions, but uses his own values to formulate his opinions. To top it all off, there have been no indications whatsoever that his is not a happy marriage, and I find that refreshing! His family "values" and faith are what help him recognize the importance of preserving what we have in this country; and to preserve what we have, we must fight those who wish to undermine it. Right now, that primary "enemy" is terrorism and those terrorists who hate us.

To a president I can trust when it comes to worldly security issues

To God regarding final judgment on behavioral issues

Don't tell me these "kids" aren't tough, (our kids are rural Alaskans after all), but even "kids" from the soft suburbs are doing their duty with honor, all you have to do is examine their behavior in the field. People are as tough as they have to be. I can honestly say I'm proud and honored we have such young people.

A hearty AMEN from the mother of a brave, young soldier from a 'soft (Ohio) suburb.'

Honor is not borne in any one generation.........and I would put this generation of young people up against their boomer parents any day, and I'll bet they wouldn't disappoint me.....
