In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
fastidious \fass-TIH-dee-uss\ adjective
1. having high and often unpredictable standards
2. showing a meticulous or demanding attitude *
* Indicates the sense illustrated in the example sentence.
Example sentence: The celebrated imperial Easter eggs designed by goldsmith Peter Carl Faberge are regarded as the ultimate in fastidious workmanship.
Did you know?
There's nothing offensive about fastidious workmanship, and yet the word "fastidious" traces to the Latin noun "fastidium," meaning "disgust." "Fastidium" itself is most likely a combination of the Latin words "fastus," meaning "arrogance," and "taedium," meaning "irksomeness." ("Taedium" also gave us our "tedium.") In keeping with its Latin roots, "fastidious" once meant "haughty" or "scornful" or "disgusting" or "disagreeable," although those uses are now archaic or obsolete. The word then came to be applied to someone who was overly difficult to please or squeamish, and later, to work which reflected a demanding or precise attitude.
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.

Who's our sub today? I have to hang around for a service tech to come inspect the new fridge. Then run up to school for a teacher conference.

well Vast said he had a word at the ready, so i am assuming it will be him again today.
i am obsessing over the impending hurricane, wishing we could just get it OVER with! it is defniitely going to wait til xshub is gone to LV, and then hit tomorrow afternoon. hopefully the schools are going to be thinking this out, and come up with some policy in advance of that, so i am not scrambling to retrieve 3 kids from 3 locales. the worst is spozed to be from 6pm til 6 am.

That's middle school football day. What a mess. I'd worry more about tornados spinning off from Izzy. Having lived through one of them, I wouldn't wish them on anybody. Okay, maybe on a select few democrats...

There I fixed it. There was a cricket under it. I set him free, now he is singing the cutest little song. "When you wish upon a starrrrrrrrrrr. Makes no difference who you arrrrrrrre"...... Crap! I backed over him with my chair.

I'm starting to obsess about the storm as well.
The schools here are coming up with a plan - they are only going half day today. I'm assuming there will be no school tomorrow or Friday.
