In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
fastidious \fass-TIH-dee-uss\ adjective
1. having high and often unpredictable standards
2. showing a meticulous or demanding attitude *
* Indicates the sense illustrated in the example sentence.
Example sentence: The celebrated imperial Easter eggs designed by goldsmith Peter Carl Faberge are regarded as the ultimate in fastidious workmanship.
Did you know?
There's nothing offensive about fastidious workmanship, and yet the word "fastidious" traces to the Latin noun "fastidium," meaning "disgust." "Fastidium" itself is most likely a combination of the Latin words "fastus," meaning "arrogance," and "taedium," meaning "irksomeness." ("Taedium" also gave us our "tedium.") In keeping with its Latin roots, "fastidious" once meant "haughty" or "scornful" or "disgusting" or "disagreeable," although those uses are now archaic or obsolete. The word then came to be applied to someone who was overly difficult to please or squeamish, and later, to work which reflected a demanding or precise attitude.
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)

MNF has been pretty good, so far this year! It's amazing that the trash pulled off that win without their diamond.

Here we go again... I dunno I think the joke has petered out. Lets face it if we want to talk about fruity religious figures we all have our share of them... and sadly there is no Torquemada to get such guys back to proper behavior, or to burn them at a stake, whichever.
Sometimes, I really miss the good old days.

Here!
"Fastidious" is the perfect word
To describe the liberal landed.
To buy rulings from high court judges
Is really underhanded.
They refuse to heed the peoples' will
And want Grayout still in power.
I hope a higher court will slap them down
And shake their ivory tower.

i am going to be quizzing class members on the level of fastidiousness that they use in airport restrooms at lunchtime today. This reminds me about a story about a waiter and efficiency experts. The punchline was "I don't know about the other waiters, but I just use the spoon".

Check out
this thread. Some kids were playing with 2# of mercury and now it's lost and they won't tell the adults where it went. LOL The thread has turned into a conversation about all the fun, dangerous stuff everyone did as kids without getting killed.

Make it 2. I was very disappointed that my interview did not stir up a flame war with the atheists yesterday. I also wish sonsofliberty had spell checked me. I swear I spell checked it but there were a few bloopers in there. Oh well.
