That's it. I don't give a flying fig if Texas comes back(its 28-14 right now.) Fire the fickle folding fraud that is Mack Brown.
Once again, he's couldn't prepare his team for the big game. Once again outcoached. Once again overhyped. Once again his team can't run. Once again his defense is shredded. Once again he ignored an offseason opportunity to replace his coaches who have used smoke and mirrors and early high rankings to fool the media into thinking his team would finally be better than what they are. Same ol' sham.
Arkansas first truly exposed the fraud that is Mack Brown back in the Cotton Bowl several years ago. So did Mack learn and prepare his team this time? Nope, instead he frivolously whined and moaned last week about the UA coach 'disrespecting' UT by celebrating after the upset Cotton Bowl win. It is MACK who has disrespected Texas. Grow up, Mack, quit making excuses.
Arkansas has less talent, yet they are whipping UT with a balanced attack. UT's drives depend heavily on penalties, not a balanced offense with a solid running game. If they can't control Arkansas, they have no chance against the best in college football.
Thanks for the good recruiting Mack, you did a good job of bring UT back. But you can't win the big one, and worst of all, you don't mentally prepare your teams. Remember the Big 12 Champ game in Dallas against Colorado, where a stupid jump offsides by Texas on a punt kept alive a CO drive, and cost UT a win and a guaranteed place in the mythical national championship game? Remember a year later, again in Dallas and eeriely similar, UT jumped offsides on an obvious OU 4th down attempt to draw them offsides(AFTER A TIMEOUT! Isn't that what you specifically warn your team not to do?). That stupid mistake(at the end of the 2nd quarter) allowed a touchdown which changed the game momentum and once again saw the Longhorns NC title shot flushed down the toilet. Remember how everyone was talking about a possible Texas Tech upset, yet wide-eyed Mack sure enough fell into the trap and lost, then claimed he had no clue that it might happened. Get behind, and the team panics and folds. It is the coaches' job to prepare their team, and in most big games, UT has failed to be prepared.
Oh, they'll let him play out the season, but no matter what the final score, this game is an embarrassment and confirmation that Mack cannot take this team any further. There will be no national championship this year. Time to begin planning for a quiet but graceful exit.

There's a time for tackling and a time for stripping. A smart defender knows the difference. If you're the first guy there, get the man with the ball down on the ground. If you're the second guy there, go for the strip. Because not all tackles are successful and because even less strips are successful, the defender has to take the safer course to end the play.

Losing 20-10 in the 3rd(after blowing a 10-7 halftime lead), sloppy tackling, sorry defense, failure to adjust at halftime (again) bump

I was waiting for this thread to show up again tonight; Texas has been playing flat all night -- pathetic.

It's just poor coaching. Great, now we have our players yelling at each other.
What the f***???? We decline a penalty for a 4th and 3??? Take the f'ing penalty and try again from 3rd and 10.

Yep, once again the Horns are poorly prepared mentally in a big game. Young and Mock are both overthrowing.
Declining that penalty should get Mack fired. How idiotic. Instead of 3rd and 9, he declines the penalty and goes for it on 4th and 3. Then has to waste a timeout. And of course not only does the 4th down fail, but an extra 10 yards is given up on the loss. Poor Mack, guess he was suprised that they blitzed(since WSU has only blitzed 90% of the plays tonight.

How about that great Texas special teams play? 4 times now they let WSU down kicks inside the 6.
Nice fumble for a touchdown. Its quite clear which team is better (or rather better coached, better prepared, and better disciplined.)

Texas needs to defend against the blitz and start getting some points on the board before this becomes a rout.

Texas needs to defend against the blitz and start getting some points on the board before this becomes a rout.Well, they took your advice but, unfortunately, they started "getting some points on the board" for the other team. Holding in the end zone -- safety. Turn out the liiiiiights, the party's over...

I'll never forget how my brother was really, really hoping that OU would get Mack Brown
as the football coach.
I'll give UT credit, I think they are honest at making their players meet academic
standards that are just not really enforced at other school (well, except
a place like Stanford).
Chin up...every good program has the down time...KSU, OU, heck, even Nebraka!

As this thread started...when Arkansas beat the crap out of them it was obvious to me Texas was highly over rated. Maybe now they'll drop completely out of the top 25 where they should be.
Now I'm just hoping my Hogs beat Mizzou...which is gonna' be rough...and my Vols beat Clemson. I'll be at both games. And of course I hope LSU beats the crap out of OK like that bunch of wheat farmers did.

You think some big bucks, UT boosters might placed calls to Steve Spurier after this pathetic game?
I do.

Sounds to me like the old Head Ball Coach wants no part of coaching anymore, anywhere. Methinks he is headed to the broadcast booth.

Fire the fickle folding fraud that is Mack Brown. I hear there's a position open in Washington DC.

I think Spurrier is coaching at UT. Not next next year, but 2005.
