"Pit bulls can make fantastic family pets if you train them properly. I can attest to that."
Fine. They can also make vicious animals that attack without warning if you don't. Quite frankly, most of the folks I see with pit bulls don't look bright enough to train anything.
Now, a golden retriever is not a breed that does a lot of attacking, if my research is correct. Labs, neither, or even huge breeds like Newfoundlands.
Pit bull? Keep it the heck out of my yard, OK? I have no tolerance for them, and if yours is off leash and comes into my yard, it will never come out of my yard again...guaranteed.

The problem with pit bulls are that the vast majority of them ARE bred with a vicious streak in them. To "tame" one of them is like taming a tiger or lion, very slim chance of success.

I also think that is legal. Around where I live (Virginia), I think it is. I'll need to check.

Yeah, you're exactly right. I know people who love pit bulls and say they're the best dogs and etc. But most of the people I see walking them are dirtbags who want the animal precisely because of it's "bad" reputation, and they're also the types who don't take good care of the dogs, don't train them or take them to the vet. We need to put these shitbags in jail if their dogs hurt someone, just like those jackholes in San Fran. The same happens with Rotweilers, which are wonderful dogs. My frined has two and they are the best dogs, loyal and sweet-tempered, becasue he took the time to train the damn things. But I alwyas react negatively when I see some trglodyte walking a pit bull, a lot of times without a leash.

Good post. I see no reason for pit bulls other than some machismo need to have a bad ass dog.
If you want a good dog, the odds of getting one with a pit bull are a long shot compared to a golden retreiver.
