I'm curious about California's budget

I got a question for Californian FReepers and those knowledgeable about California. Anyone know where I can take a look at what it is the California state government is spending money on? I'd like to know just where it is all that revenue they take in is going.

Illegal aliens cost the state billions in healthcare, housing, schooling (bilingual ed is still going on despite the voters), and welfare.

How about pandering to the unions? Davis signed a bill that allows prison guards to retire at age 50 with 90% of their highest pay for life!!!

Read the section titled "California's Continuing Fiscal Challenge: An Opportunity for Change" and prepare to upchuck. It's a little commercial for the Davis administration and what a swell job it's doing to address the shortfall.

After filtering out the horse manure ("Preserving Critical Programs", etc, etc, etc), I see that the bottom line of the Governor's Budget Summary is that the money is p---ed away.

Arnold says the books are such a mess that he would hire an independent accounting firm to decipher them.

You don't actually have to read a public budget to understand that the money is pissed away. Even if you agree philosophically with the programs, you have to realize that most of the money is spent on administrative costs, and little remains for the actual programs.

When I think of how much of the wealth generated by Americans is diverted into the federal and state governments, I really don't see how we can continue as a succesful nation.

Hmmmm, I'm trying to think of the programs other than national defense with which I agree philosophically. Thinking ... Still thinking ... Hmmmm hmmm hmmm ... Nope, I give up.
