GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip - A leader of the Palestinian militant group Hamas on Saturday called President Bush an enemy of Islam because the U.S. government froze the assets of Hamas leaders in response to a suicide bombing of a bus in Jerusalem.
Speaking to Dubai-based Al-Arabiya TV, Abdel Aziz Rantisi called the action "a theft of Muslim money by the Americans" and said the frozen money doesn't belong to Hamas.
"Hamas does not have any money in the U.S., Europe or even in the Arab states. President Bush has become Islam's biggest enemy," Rantisi said in the interview.
On Friday, the United States froze the assets of six Hamas leaders, including Rantisi, an aide to Sheik Ahmed Yassin, the group's spiritual leader. The United States also froze the assets of five European-based organizations that it said raise money for the radical Palestinian group.

Conservatives were angry at the Washington wing of their party and Goldwater was the vehicle for that fury. Dean's success is much the same: Dems are furious at their reps in Congress for insufficiently challenging the president. Dean appeals to the "true" liberal leanings of the party...and its anger.Dean could easily say he's "a choice, not an echo".
Goldwater won 6 states. Dean may do better, but he'll do lasting damage to the Dems. For, unlike the 1964 GOP, Dems don't have a truly appealing figure like Ronald Reagan waiting in the wings. Reagan took what Goldwater tapped into and redirected it to an optimistic, muscular conservatism. There is no voice in today's Democratic party to do the same with Dean's message.
The most interesting question is whether Dean will embrace the Clintonoids. Will he keep McAwful at the DNC? He's got to know the party chieftans want him to lose so Hillary can run in '08. Will he allow them to stay and quietly undermine his campaign?
My guess is if Dean gets the nod, McAwful will be asked to pack his bags and vacate his offices. Wondering if Hitlery has a contingency plan? She really needs McAwful in there to protect her interests.
The Los Angeles school district is requesting that parents pay $40 for any day their child misses school! What a demented idea: Your child is sick, so can't avail himself of that day's lessons. Therefore you should pay for the lesson (for which you already paid thru your taxes!). There is no end to the greed of liberals.

When your child is in daycare, if they have a fever you're not allowed to bring them in until they're fever free for 24 hrs. But you still have to pay for those days they're absent. In addition most places of employment won't pay you for those days you're out with a sick child (although now in CA they have that hillary idea... med. leave?). And then there's the doctor bill.

Iglesias to President Bush, urging them to halt drilling in "one of the planet's most prized rain forests." It's all connected to the $1.6 billion Camisea Gas Project.
The 58-year-old human rights activist, who was born in Nicaragua, has been a strong supporter of Toledo: "I support his efforts to bring democracy to Peru," she says. "But I am hoping and trusting that he will have the well-being of his people in mind."
"The Amazon rain forests are the lungs of the Earth, and this project will put the progress of Peru and our common future in jeopardy," she writes in her letter to Toledo.

So let me get this straight - she wants Pres. Bush to leave Latin America alone, but she wants him to intervene in this gas drilling matter. Oh, okay, it makes perfect sense to me, somehow.
The kids in my local school district, in S. California, came home with a note asking parents to "donate paper towels and other cleaning supplies" cauz of budget problems. Lots of maintenance workers have been let go and teachers will have to clean their rooms on occasion...Meanwhile, California lottery money for the schools continues to roll in but can only be used for enrichment purposes....
I think R-nold will win. He said today marriage should be between a man and a woman. The local radio station said "Arnold makes a faux paux today"...and that's what it was-stating that marriage should be between a man and a woman...Unbelievable!!

DH just called to tell me he's fine, and I had no idea what he was talking about. Apparently the three formerly armed boobs drove their vehicle through the construction site he's on right now and nearly ran over several employees before crashing into the school bus. Fortunately, there were no children on board the bus, and no one was injured.
Cruz Bustamante today "proposed a constitutional amendment that would bring the [oil] companies under state regulatory control by defining the product as a public utility.If I were Bustamante I wouldn't go around in California talking about being powerless!Comparing the actions of international oil companies to those of the electric industry, he said the amendment would bring gas prices under the watch of the Public Utilities Commission, allowing it to check price hikes and stockpile greater reserves.
"Californians are being gouged, and under current law we are powerless to do anything about it," said Bustamante, speaking in front of a Sacramento gas station.
