In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of word for the day. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the word of the day; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. Practice makes perfect.....post on....
jocular; \Joc"u*lar\ adjective:

Blues lyrics are no less dark when ("Nobody loves me but my mother / And she could be jiving too" -- B. B. King).
--Roy Blount Jr., "There's More to Southern Humor Than Foot-Long Pecan Rolls," New York Times, December 11, 1994
Etymology: [Latin iocul ris, droll, from ioculus, diminutive of iocus, joke. See yek- in Indo-European Roots.]

Good Morning Students. Welcome to class!
Class is now in session. The rules are simple; you get a grade if you use the WFTD in a sentence, haiku, limerick, or quatrain. You get a "+" if you make a link, or make the teacher laugh, or you offer the appropriate bribes. I hold the grade book; the whip and chair.
On July 25, a 19-year-old college freshman from California was bored out of his wits waiting at Dallas/Fort Worth Airport after his original flight to Los Angeles had been overbooked.
Deshon Brown admits that he used his cell phone to call airport dispatchers that Friday shortly after 7 a.m. and threatened in a very low voice, "I'm going to blow up the Delta terminal at 9 a.m."
I can honestly say that no matter how bored I was at the airport I would never pull such an asinine stunt. This irresponsible adult thought this would be a jocular way to pass the time, he thought wrong
if you can call his behavior thinking. Perhaps his 10 years in prison will give him a chance to reflect on his absolute stupidity. I'm sure his parents are proud.
Prank call at airport could connect to prison time
With a jocular thought
This prank call he did plot
T'was no laughing matter
'Tis years in the slammer!
