$1 million in a state the size of California is not even coffee money. Any candidate who cannot spend more than $20 million (and/or is willing to put that kind of money in the hopper from his own pocket) is road kill come the election on 7 October.
Remember the classic comment of Jesse Unruh, legendary Speaker of the California House, "Money is the mother's milk of politics." Chart the dollars and you will know who has a chance. There will be two names on the list, Schwarzenegger and Bustamante.
