In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of “word for the day”. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the “word of the day”; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. Practice makes perfect.....post on....

nates \na*tez\, plural noun

1. The buttocks.
2. The two anterior of the four lobes on the dorsal side of the midbrain of most mammals; the anterior optic lobes.
3. The umbones of a bivalve shell.

The democrats will find that their plethora of piffle will come to bite them on the nates. Of course, those blissoming bullies will become anorchus amoebas when they're trumped and tromped in the edifying election.
--Rika Strom, WFTD Teacher, 2003

Etymology: [Latin nat s, pl. of natis, buttock.]

You have to walk that far to smoke?

No. The Smokehouse is where I cure hams, deer jerky, sausage, etc.

If I need to fire up a doobie for my glaucoma, I can do that right in the house.

Well, when there was no alternative to it, people had to adjust and adapt. But with a/c I don't have to do so.

IMHO, pierogies are the universal food. Every culture has them in some form or another. Ravioli, kreplach, wonton, samosas, etc.

I have the afternoon off, so I have to go out and paint the porch. I figure it's better for me to pick my own outdoor projects, before the wife picks them for me.

Great! I have to drive 30 miles minimum to put the Boston Whaler in water. 50 yards is good.
