In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of “word for the day”. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the “word of the day”; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. Practice makes perfect.....post on....

scintilla \sin-TIL-uh\, noun
scintillant; adjective

1. A tiny or scarcely detectable amount; the slightest particle; a trace
2. A spark; a flash.
3. Miniscule

In victory, they must hold on to at least a scintilla of humility, lest they get too cocky -- and ripe for a takedown.
--Bill Breen, "'We are literally trying to stop time,'" Fast Company, May 2000

Etymology: Latin scintilla, "a spark, a glimmer, a faint trace." Also from scintilla is the verb scintillate, "to sparkle."

LOL, I like it. Very nice. Unfortunately I can't grade it unless you can do a nice limerick on a News Story or Current Event.

But I really like it! LOL

Other than essentials, I prefer to do it once a month.

Grabbing milk or a loaf of bread or salad stuff to me is not grocery shopping....just another tedious errand!!!

Well, the not going to the party thing (he doesn't even know about it) is mostly because i don't want to deal with this behavior in front of 20 other people tonight. Since he's been this way since he woke up this morning, I have no reason to think it will be better tonight. He's not really old enough to understand that not going to the party is punishment for something earlier in the day but that's how my mom sees it.

And I don't have any BBQ tongs so hubby is going to have to buy me the rubber gloves on his way home tonight. If there weren't likely babies under the rock, I could move it with a coat hanger and hook the keys, but I am pretty sure they have a new group of babies under there by the way they are acting. The are a type of fish where both mom and dad fish protect the babies at any cost and they have barb type teeth. I know it sounds mean, but I hope that he one day sticks his hand in that tank and gets bitten just once. Then he would understand not to mess with that tank if he doesn't want a painful bite. They aren't piranhas or anything, just mean convict cichlids.

"I could raise the Titanic with a coat hanger. "

But you couldn't raise this rock without disturbing the nest of babies underneath it. I like my fish babies more than my car keys, but I still want my car keys out.
