In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of “word for the day”. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the “word of the day”; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. Practice makes perfect.....post on....

surmise \sur*myze\, verb, transitive/intransitive; noun
surmising, surmised, surmises

1. To infer (something) without sufficiently conclusive evidence
2. To make a guess or conjecture
3. Reflection; thought. [Obs.]
4. An idea or opinion based on insufficiently conclusive evidence; a conjecture.

It wafted nearer yet, and then she knew That what before she but surmised, was true. --Dryden.

Etymology: [Middle English surmisen, to accuse, from Old French surmise, feminine past participle of surmettre : sur-, sur- + mettre, to put (from Latin mittere).]

This is where I wanted to be today. I couldn't get there though since I couldn't get my license on Saturday.

That's a shame. You can spot Eala here (but you needn't try, because he was wearing a rather hot devil mask just to annoy Her Heinous). But there will be other FReeps in the future...

In that case, I'll wait on my offer to stay up late. Maybe in a few months, after you get that stuff out of the way. I'd be glad to help then. :-)

Well I firmly believe that, but then, there are rumors to my insanity, so I don't know if my word should be taken on that subject. ;-)

Thanks :) It's likely to be a hectic few weeks. I just heard from hubby's mom today and confirmed the right time for me to visit. I'll be heading over to their farm in AL (near Flurry and Laura Earl if you guys want to meet up for a visit) on Tuesday the 19th and will stay atleast through the weekend. When i get back from there, my best friend is supposed to drop by and visit the next weekend and the weekend after that I HOPE will be my weekend getaway by myself. I may get back in touch with my Raleigh, NC friends and go back to visit them, but I'm not sure yet. If I do that and anyone that posts on this thread lives nearby, I'd love to meet up with you.

Flurry and LE: If you two do want to meet up, I may could talk my MIL into keeping the kids the Friday night or Sat. night after I get there long enough to meet up in Anniston or someplace in between Wadley and you two that actually has a place to go that's fun.

ONE day I hope the little girl gets the travel bug like me and her brother have and starts enjoying the long trips he an I use to take before she was born. We use to take 6-7 hour trips out of town and stay gone for weeks at a time up until she was born. He loved it, but she's not into it yet. I think part of my problem lately is that I'm a bit stir crazy and need to get my butt on the road out of town for a bit. The hubby enjoys the break too when I take them with me. I can't wait until they are old enough to go just me and them to the beach and all over like me and the toddler use to when hubby was working overtime. Hopefully once her carseat can face forward, she'll enjoy the trips more.

One plus side to my day today: I made friends with a neighbor who has a son close to the toddlers age who I think would get along well with him. His mother and I think a lot alike as well and she invited me to go walking with them in the evenings when they go, which I look forward to. I have exactly ZERO friends here that aren't family and that actually do stuff and have kids. I think it will do me and the kids both a lot of good to get out of the apartment and into the sunshine a bit.

A couple of years ago for Christmas, I got my sister-in-law an Edith Piaf CD, which she was of an age etc. to appreciate. The next year I got her the best French wine I could find around here (not that swell) and a pack of Gauloises to enjoy with it (she'd have to find her own beret). Gauloises are sold in only one store I could find in this area (Vancouver), and they don't come in the soft light blue packs, they come in the Canaduh cardboard with whiny warnings and pictures - and they're filtered! Blasphemy!! Oh, well, I got a pack for me too, and they still have most of that rauchy old flavour. Can't find any Gitanes though.

LE and I stay close to home if Alcohol is involved, DUI laws are heck. But maybe we will get a room in Anniston and meet you somewhere up there. Anniston is 1 hour from B'ham and about 1 hour from Wadley. We'll discuss it and check our schedules. It would have to be Fri or Sat. We'll get back to you.

Nice looking family. I really like hubby's tux and hair in wedding picture very 80's. Your kids are adorable. Hubby needs a shotgun to keep the boys away from your daughter.

I'd like to see them try that in our parish. They wouldn't last five minutes before some of the good ole boys sent them packing. What few homosexuals there are in this area keep a VERY low profile.
