KC's rotting smell is roses compared to the dems.

but that doesn't mean i am the one to teach them either! you need to have patience and knowledge both, IMO

That is exactly my attitude - and why I stay away from the ome schooling threads.

I'm totally incapable of being a homeschooler - and I'm the first one to admit it. I would probably do more damage than good.

When it comes to my mom, that is definitely true about the spoiling. Luckily though, hubby's mom isn't into that. I've given her free reign on treating my kids the same as her own and she does pretty good most of the time. She's always telling me she was a terrible mommy but she raised 3 great boys (well, 2 great boys, and one decent boy) so I don't believe her bad mom story. 90% of the time she'll let both kids cry longer than I would. She's a lifesaver when I visit her with the kids. When the toddler was 4-6wks old and I was so sleep deprived she even let me sleep a whole night by myself and stayed up with him all night. When he would cry too loud, she would take him into the bathroom just to keep him from waking me up! Even the hubby wouldn't do that for me for a night. I'm going to go read that site and try it. I haven't slept through a night where I haven't had to wake up atleast every hour and a half since about 3 months before she was born. That's a whole YEAR now of bad sleep. I have no energy at all to do anything around the house and it's starting to upset the hubby a lot. Lately there is a lot of tension because the house is a constant disaster area and he blames it on the computer and doesn't realize that I'm on the computer because I just have zero energy to keep kids out of stuff and do housework too. PLus, when I leave the room, both kids go insane, even if I'm just in the kitchen. That's when the toddler starts throwing things into the fish tank or shoving the baby's head into the wall/door/whatever. And that's when the baby sit's and screams until she can see me again. It makes me want to get a full time job and stick them both in daycare sometimes just to get a break because the hubby is tired too from working and can't give me a day off ever. I've been begging for months for just ONE day where he would get up with them in the morning, keep them all day, do all the diapers, and put them to bed that night without my help. So far, it hasn't happened. He did let me sleep in Sunday, which was nice. I swear though that when the baby is fully weaned (we are working on just switching her over to real milk now)I am going off for a whole weekend by myself. I don't think it's too much to ask at all either. (sorry for all the venting, i know i've been doing it a lot lately, i'm just stressed out a lot lately)

she would babysit for ya if you lived close! she only has this one gig really. she enjoys it. she called me from there, bc the mom had told her to make chicken nuggets for the little girl and xsteen couldn't find any nuggets anywhere in the freezer. she went through it with me over the phone. i said heck with it, make her a hotdog. so she did. the kid ate it all, that's all... a hotdog, nothing to go with!

really. the reward/punishment system works if you're long on the reward and short on the punishment sides...

I remember 52 kids in a classroom and there was NEVER pandemonium.

What is wrong with teachers that they are unable to control a clasroom?

no, that is the thing, this teacher is very able to control the classroom. the parents are the ones unable to control their children at home!

and yes, i had 50+ in my classrooms growing up, but like i told xsbrownie's teacher, i got hit by the teacher for answering someone who asked me what time it was on the bus. we weren't allowed to talk on the bus....

"I will try to stay up - I'm not promising anything.

I'll let you know if I'm not going to make it. How's that? "

Sounds like a plan!
