What is Rush trying to Do to Us?
Rush Limbaugh Show
Posted on 08/08/2003 9:46:41 AM PDT by Cinnamon Girl
Why is Rush selling Arnold down the river? Okay, so we don't know if Schwarzenegger can run a state economy, but we sure know that Joe Davis can't. No, Arnold is not a social conservative, but the man knows basic economics and has proven he knows how to make money. We can all get sweaty about Arnold's passion for socialist programs for children and whatever all else, but Arnold said he recognizes the need for emergency action to stop the rush of businesses out of this state. It's an immediate problem. And Arnold is a Republican because he knows basic facts like that taxing the junk out of people doesn't help the economy. He already said he'd take back the car registration tax hike that Davis illegally put into action.
Democrats will vote for Arnold. Many of them have already excitedly said so. And who else have we got? What are we supposed to do? Wait for another Reagan to step forward? Not likely.

BTW, I'm not convinced that Arnold has staying power. This recall is about addressing a fiscal crisis in California, and it's a unique opportunity to elect a fiscal conservative. Tom McClintock's positions on the budget are solid. He may end up winning this thing. The key for Arnold is whether he comes forward with a solid plan for the state's fiscal mess. If his fiscal policies rise to the standard of McClintock's, unfortunately for McClintock, Arnold may win because McClintock's policies plus Arnold's popularity will be a hard combination to beat.

Rush lost all his golf balls years ago. It breaks my heart...but, I'm starting to agree with you. Rush seems to have lost touch with what can only be called "reality politics".
Too bad, if he keeps this up----I'll miss him.

"OK, what do you suggest we do? In Maine, for instance, should we insist that Olympia Snowe run as a Democrat, or refuse to vote for her?" That's a start. In the primary anyway. That's what we are doing here in PA with Arlen Specter. We have a challenger (Cong. Pat Toomey) in the spring that is viable. Arlen has money, but I truly believe that he lacks deep grass roots support that he will need to win. I believe the key is to run as an unabashed conservative and then be one when you get into office. There must be a clear distinction to get people to the polls and all too often, there just isn't that much of a difference that will stir people to vote.

The key is "viable" candidate. I say pull out the stops for Toomey. But in a state where there isn't much of a viable choice, the only alternative is to vote for whomever the Republicans nominate, because the stakes in the world are too high to allow the Democrat Party back into power.

Just a couple of questions..... Was it Simon that ran against Davis and lost? Simon is going to be on the ballot again? Is Simon a better choice than Arnold?
Simon or Arnold can't be worse than Grey out? I mean look, we have Pataki......

It was Simon who ran against Davis. I liked him and rallied for him, but he picked idiots to run his campaign. And, as Michael Medved is pointing out right now, real conservative Republicans don't have a good track record lately here.
To: Cinnamon Girl
Can Simon beat Arnold? Probably not huh? Well, good luck. At least Grey out will probably be out, right? At least you don't have Hillary as a Senator, though in a way I guess you do. She affects both of us federally..... I can't stand it!

No, Simon can't beat Arnold. Issa figured that out yesterday which is why he pulled out of the race in tears.

I grow weary of the smarter-than-us pundits pointing out that Arnold has no political experience. Good! The guys WITH political experience have sold my former state down the river.
I used to listen to Rush faithfully, but I can no longer get his station in my cubbie. Perhaps it's for the best.

Listen to his stump speeches. How many times will you hear "Totall Recall" or "Hasta La Vista". Many. How many times will you hear real solutions to real problems? To be determined. I want whats best for California, because I LIVE here. I'm more concerned about fixing the states problems, that setting up an unlikely electoral victory in 04. We won without California, we'll do it again. You really think Arnold's knuckleheaded enough to include "Hasta La Vista" in his stump speeches? Also, are you sure you aren't rooting for Bustamove to win?
To: My2Cents
"...because the stakes in the world are too high to allow the Democrat Party back into power." I used to believe that too. Actually, I still do, but I will no longer reward politicans that betray me and the Constitution. If we are going to descend into socialist hell, I want it to happen now while I am still young enough to do something about it. I don't want to postpone it (like the so called entitlement funding burden) and lay it off on my kids and grand kids. It's our fight and we should meet it head on and deal with it. Covering our eyes and pretending that it is not happening will not make the problem go away. I know it is not easy contemplating an algore or shillery in office, but when the pubbies enact many of the same policies when they are in charge, I say @#$* 'em. If the state or national GOP wants to win, we should make them do it on our terms. Withhold the money. Withhold the votes when they prop up RINOs or fund challengers to conservatives. Too often the party line is "If you don't elect our liberal, you'll get their liberal." If there is going to be a lib in office, it won't be a pub liberal with my support. Gotta go. Good chatting with you.

You really think Arnold's knuckleheaded enough to include "Hasta La Vista" in his stump speeches? He's already doing that. He used several movie one-liners on Leno, and everytime he has cameras on him he throws in something. I saw one press conference where he said "I'll be back" as he left the microphones. Maybe it's all scripted, but he'd better nip it in the bud; it just cheapens his position more and more.
To: EggsAckley
If he does it on Leno, it's for laughs. If he does it in a stump speech, it will be embarrassing.
To: Cinnamon Girl
I, for one, won't be surprised if he DOES do it on stump speeches. I'm not real happy about his entering this circus. I wish the Ca. Reb. Party would step up and handle this mess. It makes a farce of Democracy.
Almost thinking I'd vote for the "sumo wrestler" guy instead of Arnold. ;o)

Well stated PKM! I'm of the same opinions.
