Two more reports regarding the Kobe Bryant case circulating among part of the national media were debunked Monday.
Media reports that the 19-year-old woman who Bryant allegedly assaulted received a ride home is not the case, sources said Monday. Reports that her clothing was torn are also untrue, sources also.
Sources told the Daily that the alleged victim managed to get herself home by 11:50 p.m., June 30, after ending the shift at the Lodge at Cordillera at around 11:10 p.m.
They also said that while her clothing was disheveled and showed signs that something had occurred, it wasn't torn or ripped, as some reports indicated.
"Some of the reports made it sound like something out of a bad movie," said one source. "It wasn't like that."
The reports are part of a larger set of rumors and gossip that have been circulating across the country about the case. Among them:
- That the alleged victim was in the room two hours. It was only about 20 minutes.
- When she came down, she was hysterical. She was not. Sources said she was in a stupor and a state of shock.
- A few days before the incident, the alleged victim had accused another hotel worker of sexual harassment, getting him fired. Not true, said the man who was terminated. It was not the alleged victim.
Cameras in court
Eagle County Judge Fred Gannett ruled that not only is Bryant required to appear at 4 p.m. Wednesday, he also ruled Monday that there will be cameras in the courtroom.
Gannett denied a motion by Bryant's attorneys asking Gannett to reconsider an earlier order allowing one video camera and one still camera in the courtroom while Bryant is advised of the charges against him, and also advised of his rights.

Yeah? and it may not be "retracted". In fact worse information (for Kobe) may surface. I am waiting for the "bimbo eruption". I don't think this was his first time cheating on his wife. Hannity-a diehard Kobe supporter has been singing another tune the last couple days-wonder why?

You've decided KB is guilty, I take it. Without hearing all the evidence.
Just getting you on the record.

Well since she supposedly bared her soul to him in on the car ride home it does sort of throw a kink into his version of events.
Really? How so?
in answer to Smogger's assertion that she bared her soul to him in the car on the way home, insinuating that it never happened by quoting an article [posted two days later from ESPAN.
In fact, Rita Cosby made that precise assertion, along with the torn clothes and ride home, which, of course, turned out to be an out and out falsehood on Rita's part; Rita is the one who said she confided in him.
Rita is the one who linked the bellman to the stories, not anybody else. Rita SPREAD that rumor, unsubstantiated.
And the rumor was out there for two whole days; it's good that ESPN obviously did their own checking; they sure did better than Rita did, but the rumor about her talking to him was STILL out there for two whole days.

Are you just pretending that Rita never said those things? Is it just more convenient to forget that SHE falsely reported torn clothes, a ride home, her confiding in him, AND that she talked to him personally?
And I know Randy Wyrick and ESPN figured out the facts.

According to Evancho, this topic came up after she was bragging about the incident.Well if she were bragging about being "raped" then clearly something is wrong. But if she were talking about the incident when Evancho starting badgering her (as has also been reported) with questions regarding Kobe's anatomy, that's a completely different story. Who knows, maybe he was drunk, that certainly would explain his intemperate questions.
Yikes I had a Freudian typo above, elicit, not illict. Anyway, if Evancho were to testify to the accuser's bragging, that's one thing. But, if he has to get up on the stand and repeat his questions, I don't think it will play well with the jury. If others dispute him he will come across as a jerk for having asked the question.

I bet money when it comes time to tell the truth (under oath) those five witnesses will be not be there. But I bet witnesses from the hotel who saw her right after the incident happened will be there.

Howlin when it comes out in court that he really did hurt, humiliate and rape this girl, how will you feel? I'll ask you the same thing; how will you feel when it comes out in court that she's lying? Will you feel good about smearing a man because of a girl who has emotional problems?
About what?
Last Saturday night on her show on Fox, Rita Cosby "broke" the news that the girl's clothes were torn, that the bellman gave her a ride home, and that they discussed what happened."
All a pack of lies.
(And, for the love of gawd, have the sense enough to realize that if you come back and defend Rita by saying she only reported what she was told you are calling the bellman, a witness in a case in which you hope Kobe Bryant will be convicted in, a liar.)

Howlin how do you know those things (torn clothing, ride home) are not true? Your sources are no more credible than Rita. I guess no one will really know until the trial.

I took Smogger to mean that the bellhop hadn't been told anything if the ride home story wasn't true. I was pointing out that multiple reports still have the bellhop as the "excited outcry" witness or whatever the term is.

Howlin how do you know those things (torn clothing, ride home) are not true? Are you really, honestly this obtuse? Honestly? Are you not reading what is being posted on this very thread?

I keep hearing the bellman is a witness-on the witness list from different stories. You have one report of unknown origin. How can we know what is true. I am not smearing Kobe when I say if the girls clothing was torn or disarrayed, she said she was raped immediately, she was injured on the face and genital area, then I will believe Kobe did it. To me this would would be evidence of a rape.

Not all a pack of lies. No one is reporting that the girl didn't speak to the bellhop.
Not even Randy Wyrick.

Laker Due In Court Wednesday
UPDATED: 4:00 p.m. PDT August 5, 2003
EAGLE, Colo. -- A bellhop who worked at a hotel with the 19-year-old woman who accused Kobe Bryant of sexual assaulting her says she told him about the alleged attack only moments after it happened, NBC reported Tuesday.
"We know that when she came out of the room she was in a state of shock. She was in a stupor. She came down, talked to another of the hotel workers about what allegedly had just happened to her and apparently she thought it was pretty bad," Randy Wyrick, of the Vail Daily News, said.

It must be nice to be clairvoyant. I have to rely on such fragile things as logic and reasoning.
But tell me this from your crystal ball -- just who are the "witnesses from the hotel who saw her right after the incident?" I have not heard a single person come forward and identify themselves as such. And what did these unknown people say? I have not heard a single person willing to have any such statement put forth under their name.
And when you say that "those five witnesses will not be there," what do you mean? That they will not be subpoenaed by the defense? Why on earth would you say that? Or are you saying that they will defy a subpoena? Fat chance, that.
Wishing does not make it so.
