[history]
August 5, 2003 -- WASHINGTON - Amid talk he's being urged to jump back into the presidential race, Al Gore has arranged to speak out on Iraq to a large anti-war group at New York University on Thursday. A Gore spokeswoman insisted, "Truly, honestly, he's not planning on getting back into the race," but the former vice president's speech to the organization MoveOn should only fuel the speculation.

Just peeking in. I need to unpack, but it's driving me nutz, all this "No I won't, Yes I will" stuff.
I simply do not understand why the Republican party is willing to let Gray Davis out of this mess he's in. I say no Republican should put their name on the ballot. Let Ole Gray stew in his own juices.
A Democrat Legislature will not give a Republican Governor an opportunity to make any signifigant improvement in the quagmire known as "the Land of Fruits and Nuts".

Because we are basically stupid?
Typically, we suck, politically, it seems. The "we feed on ourselves" theory of campaigning.
Great to see ya safely home, safe and nearly sound Gran!

Just want to let you all know, I am not running for California governor. If nominated, I will not run; if elected, I will not serve. You may now resume your normal evening activities.

I am so overjoyed!!
Arnold is running for governor of California. He will win, he will take the Mexican vote. Then Bush will support him, DC will send the best of the best to help him.
If Arnold wins, Bush can take California in 2004.

Damm. I hate it when the field is whittled to only thousands.
Your candidacy is a loss for the entire state.
Buenos noches, amiga.

If Arnold wins, Bush can take California in 2004But the REAL question is: Can Arnie win RE-ELECTION in '04?
Unfortunately, I fear the answer to that question is a resounding NO.

I spent several days in Council Bluffs this week. Today while I was driving back East, I heard a USDA crop report on WHO.
The USDA guy says crops West of 35 are stressed. Honestly, I couldn't tell it by looking at stuff along 80, but if he says it's true, I'll take his word for it.
I spent the afternoon with a DNR dude. He said North Central Iowa received a good soaker yesterday.

Yeah, but I LOVE thinking about what must be going on in the Dem prez candidate campaigns tonight. Just when they were counting on lots of media face time in prep for the caucuses and NH primary. The media circus around Arnold will drive 'em crazy!

Excellent point about the "Tagamint Events" occuring in the press offices of all the Presidential Wannabes. I really hadn't thought about it from that angle.
None the less, I am fearful about the potential lack of cooperation from a Democrat Legislature in CA. They will not be willing to do what it takes to straighten the mess out. They demonstrated that this year,,, they wouldn't give GD parred down spending bills that would have made a real difference in the mess out there. Consequently, I'm thinking the Legislature will be very accomodating in assisting the DNC to stonewall any signifigant change and then point the finger at the new Gov.

I wanted to report a John Kerry siting. He was across the street from the building where I was manning the campaign phones on Monday evening.
When I found out he was planning on a rally in this park, I had a kid copy a Howard Dean logo off the net and raced to CopyWorks to have it copied and enlarged. I colored in a blue background and was ready to send a couple of kids across the street to infiltrate the rally when the rally ended. An opportunity missed. I will have my posters in the car ready for action when the next opportunity presents itself.

"If it were before me today I would vote against it, because it doesn't have environmental or labor standards in it."--Sen. John Kerry, the haughty, French-looking Those dern wascally wepublicans hid that part from him on the first vote! (yeah, that's the ticket!)
The groveling is getting embarrassing. First the NAACLP and now this. I must try to catch the re-run on C-span.
To: Iowa Granny
Too bad you missed your opportunity! But now you'll be ready for next time.
Did you see the Mason-Dixon poll for FL?
A match between GWB and the Graham cracker today:
GWB - 51%
crackers: 39%
Should we have gone to war with Iraq?
Yes - 58%
No - 32%
Now I wish I had written crackers that letter to tell him to keep on talking badly about the president, it only makes GWB look better and better.
