In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of word for the day. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the word of the day; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. Practice makes perfect.....post on....
carouse \ca*rouse\, verb
carouses, carousing, caroused; intransitive verb
carousal, carouser; noun:
1. To engage in boisterous, drunken merrymaking.
2. To drink excessively
3. To drink up; to drain; to drink freely or jovially.
Guests carouse the sparkling tears of the rich grape. --Denham.
Egypt's wanton queen, Carousing gems, herself dissolved in love. --Young.
Etymology: [German garaus, all out, drink up : gar, completely (from Middle High German, from Old High German garo) + aus, out, up]
Word History: The origin of the word carouse can be found in a German interjection that meant time to leave the bar. German garaus, which is derived from the phrase gar (all) aus (out), meaning all out, then came to mean drink up, bottoms up, and a last drink before closing time. The English borrowed this noun, with the meaning the practice of sitting around drinking until closing time, sometimes spelling the word garaus but usually spelling it closer to the way it is spelled today. Soon after the word is first recorded as a noun in 1559, we find the verb carouse, in 1567.

That was way back in '78-79. I never received any formal training from Estee Lauder. I will add it was one of my favorite jobs.

"i am trying to fold laundry and pack for the weekend. i just hung up on a cop soliciting funds. they will likely be looking for me on the road later today.... "
Don't worry, it was probably a scam. Around here the cops tell you that if someone calls you asking for money for the police dept to try to get a call back number from them and report them because they are all scamming people. Your taxes already pay for all their stuff.. they shouldn't need donations on top of that.

OUCH!!!!!!!!!
I was expecting a call yesterday morning from a friend of mine in Philly. I had told him via email the night before that because of the caller ID and my unlimited long distance plan to just call me and I would call him right back
All morning I kept getting calls from a person I did not know and each time I answered the phone I either got a dial tone or a hangup. Finally about 2pm a call from this same name appears on the caller ID and I again answered. It was actually my friend.
He has had the same phone number for more than 10 years and forgot that it shows up in the name of a former housemate!!!!

"a good friend of mine is from Guyana, and she has an accent. she called the other night and i was belligerant when i answered bc of all the solicitation calls. she said OH, i always say i am the housekeeper when they call here! "
I had a collection agency that called for me on behalf of a hospital a few times and she was a serious b!tch. I would always tell her that I was the babysitter and she obviously didn't believe me. She made me really mad too because she gave me all the bill collection info when leaving a message for me (like how much I owed and to who) even though I told her I was the babysitter and not ther person she was calling for. I called her back later and we got into a huge arguement about her giving out my personal info. The phone call ended with her threatening to take me to court to get the money and me telling her to go ahead because they couldn't take money we didn't have. She starts telling me they can garnish my hubby's paycheck. I then informed her not-so-politely that she couldn't garnish a paycheck that didn't exist because my hubby had lost his job a few months earlier. My last sentences before hanging up were "go f- yourself. You can't take money I don't have." followed by me hanging up on her. She hasn't called since or sent anymore collection bills. Over the past 3 yrs, me and this same lady have had several yelling/cussing matches over the phone because the hospital in TN doesn't know how to file insurance properly. My hubby overheard the last call with her and was shocked because he'd never heard me talk like that to anyone before.

Is it accurate to say that Bill Clinton caroused in the WH for 8 years leaving the US open to the 9-11 attack, the stock market collapse, the Clinton recession, the loss of national security information to the Chinese, and a general lack of morality?
Would that be accurate?

Collections people are the absolute WORST.
I had a run in with the hospital collections department after my daughter was born. I started getting harrassing letters and phone calls claiming I owned them some outrageous sum of money that my insurance company refused to pay.
When I asked for copies of the records I was told they couldn't provide them to me because they were in another building.
Long story short - 3 days before I had six seperate screaming matches with the collections people at the hospital the bills had been paid by my insurance company in FULL. They had never denied the claim - because they couldn't deny something they had not yet received.
The hospital got into some serious problems with the insurance company because the hospital records showed the insurance company denying the claim a full week before the claim was submitted by the hospital. The insurance company kept me fully informed of what was going on. It's been 5 years and I have yet to get my records in regard to that insurance claim from the hospital.

When a bill of mine goes to a collection agency I will do my best to pay the person I actually owe the bill to without going through the collection agency so they can't make any money off me.

I think it's a scam.
I get problems like that all the time.
And always the Ins. Co. has taken care of their end, so now when I get a phone call related to a Hospital Bill, I start screaming about fraud, and suing.....They don't usually call back a a second time.

I agree with you it is a scam.
But you can bet there are more people that would just pay it than bother to fight it. And that is what they are counting on.
