If I made a post every time some cage tries to kill me, I'd be spamming the board. ;)

We got the back side of our truck crunched by a woman pulling onto the main road we were travelling on. This woman never even looked for oncoming traffic before pulling out.
Come to find out after the cops arrived, the woman was completely DEAF! Who knew they could still drive???
Even years after it has happened, I'm still shaken by it and the lack of people paying attention to their driving, no matter what their age...

Had a very close call at an intersection yesterday with a doddering old woman who ran a red light and puttered across at least four lanes of traffic. Several years back, before Indiana had a plastic laminated driver's license, a pal of mine was run into a ditch by an old farmer driving a pickup with sideboards that blocked his view toward the rear of his truck...and with no batwing outside mirrors, of course.
My pal wasn't seriously hurt and his bike was okay, so after uprighting it back on the road, he assured the driver he was okay, but had to see the old fella's license, as he took out his notepad and a pen. Handed the license, he promptly tore it in little shreds, put away his pad and pen, got on his bike and left.

Split-second re-actions triggered by a sharper sense of awareness of what another driver might do. Bikers make better drivers and will probably live longer than those who drive their cars as though they are shot from a sling-shot. Welcome back from the near-dead, martin.

Add me to the list of people who're glad you're OK, martin. Been riding for almost half a century with some close calls myself (bears, deer, idiot drivers, a couple of 18 wheelers and a runaway sofa) with no accidents yet. You do the same!
