This year, the producers have introduced the "X-Factor" to Big Brother. 10 of the 13 houseguests were stunned to find out that an ex-boyfriend or girlfriend of theirs was also a houseguest.
I have once again given up any hope of having a life this summer and have shelled out the $10 a month to watch the houseguests 24 hours a day on the internet.
Let's meet this years crop of contestants...
Alison
Job: Retail Manager
Age: 22
Marital Status: Single
Hometown:Pittsburgh, PA
Jeff's Comments: Alison, while seeming sweet, is definitely this year's "house ditz". Not that that's necessarily a bad thing. Recall last season when Lisa, considered far from the smartest houseguest took home the $500,000 prize.
Amanda
Job: Bar Manager
Age: 25
Marital Status: Single
Hometown:Chicago, IL
Jeff's Comments: Amanda and her ex Scott had some turbulent moments when they were first thrust back together. As of earlier today, though, they seem to be getting along quite well. According to chatter on the Internet feeds, expect Amanda to go sooner rather than later.
Dana
Job: Karate School Manager
Age: 28
Marital Status: Single
Hometown:Queens, NY
Jeff's Comments: Dana is one of three houseguests without an ex in the game. She has quite the feisty atitude, and I expect her to be involved in manty arguments, leading up to her getting booted around week 5 or so.
David
Job: Former Army Ranger
Age: 21
Marital Status: Single
Hometown:Deerfield Beach, FL
Jeff's Comments:David seems like a great guy with a super sense of humor. However, I expect the houseguests to be intimidated by his experince as a Ranger, and to give him the boot mid-game.
Erika
Job: Pilates Instructor
Age: 33
Marital Status: Single
Hometown:Los Angeles, CA
Jeff's Comments: This girl might just take it all the way. As seen in episode 2, she is not in the house to "have a good time" or "make new friends", she's in it to win it. From watching the Internet feeds, it seems as if she's already incorporating the "fly below the radar" strategy, that more often than not a good one. Also, she's a dead ringer for last year's winner, Lisa.
Jack
Job: Retired FBI Agent
Age: 58
Marital Status: Divorced
Hometown:Birmingham, AL
Jeff's Comments: Jack seems to be a very nice guy, looking much youger than his 58 years. If he can overcome the age barrier and assimilate with the other houseguests, he'll go far. Unfortunately, around week 9 or so, he will succomb to the Big Brother "middle age man curse" and get booted a la George, Kent, and Gerry in previous seasons.
Jee
Job: Bookkeeper
Age: 23
Marital Status: Single
Hometown:Elmhurst, NY
Jeff's Comments: Since entering the house, the most strained ex-couple is definitely Jee and Jun (say it out loud, it's fun). Jee seems to be a down-to-earth fellow who gets along well with all of the houseguests othjer than Jun. If he can survive the first few weeks, he will be a contender to win it all.
Jun
Job: Investment Manager
Age: 27
Marital Status: Single
Hometown:New York, NY
Jeff's Comments: Jun (pronounced June) is this years house chef. That alone will allow her to finish in the top half. Since being reunited, Jun has spent a total of literally less than one minute speaking to her boyfriend of 5 and a half years, Jee.
Justin
Job: Headhunter
Age: 22
Marital Status: Single
Hometown:Pittsburgh, PA
Jeff's Comments: Alison's ex, Justin has been surprisingly quiet thusfar in the game. I'm going to wait a few days before making a prediction on how he will do.
Michelle
Job: College Student
Age: 19
Marital Status: Single
Hometown:Boca Raton, FL
Jeff's Comments: At 19 years old, the beautiful Michelle is the youngest houseguest in Big Brother history. I predict tht she will be out within the first 3 weeks, otherwise, she will be one of the final three, as a result of the other houseguests underestimating her due to her age. On the Internet feeds, she has stated on numerous occasions that she drinks, so it should be interesting to see if she trys to sneak a few as the season goes on, and if so, what Big Brother's reaction to underage drinking in the house will be.
Nathan
Job: Personal Trainer
Age: 23
Marital Status: Single
Hometown:Edmond, OK
Jeff's Comments: Nathan is the "stud" of the house this year. Recall Hardy from season 2 and Roddy from season 3. The ladies of the house have already gone ga-ga for him. I'm predicting a week 6-7 eviction for Nathan, as the "stud" never wins any reality show, ever.
Robert
Job: Restaurasnt Manager
Age: 33
Marital Status: Single
Hometown:Los Angeles, CA
Jeff's Comments: Robert is another houseguest who I have not had much of a chance to observe on the Internet feeds. The one bit of information I was able to gather about him is that he was an alcoholic, and recovered a few years ago with the help of his father. I have a suspicion that Robert may have a bit of an attitude, but if he can keep it under control, watch for him at the end.
Scott
Job: Waiter
Age: 33
Marital Status: Single
Hometown:Chicago, IL
Jeff's Comments: Get used to the knit cap you see in Scott's head shot, as he has it on constantly. This guy cusses like it's going out of style. As entertaining as he is to watch, I expect Scott to have a fair share of conflicts with the houseguests and get booted early.
Tommorrow, I will provide links to great web sites devoted to Big Brother to help further enhance your viewing pleasure this year. If you would like to get pinged to this thread when it is updated, either let me know ion this thread or FReepmail me. If you know of anyone who might be interested in this thread, please let them know.
I was surprised that they have no staying power.
Now, I will say that I can't stand Allison... but, I guess, she's played the game... winning when she has to win...
The only problem with Ali is that she has the morals and manners of a gutter snipe...
Her cheating and lies have made the game interesting. If everyone were a perfect angel, there'd be no show at all. If I were on the jury, I'd vote for her to win...assuming she gets that far...because she's been the toughest competitor from the start.
I like Jun better and have enjoyed her conniving too. And at least she contributed to the house with her cooking. No small thing in that dismal place. She has a better personality than Ali or Robert....sheesh, the guy makes me want to hurl he's such a wimpy little creep. I cannot figure out how he got to the final three. Guess those POV wins advanced him. But basically blech to him.
I like "reality" tv. Especially For Love or Money this season, maybe because the guys were so cute. (Blush). Thank heavens Survivor starts next week or I'd go mad, I tell you, mad mad mad. The scripted shows are all alike. Not one interests me and I get tired of the leftwing, gay-agenda bias.
I think my problem is I don't like her. And because I don't like her, I am probably harder on her. Yet, her manners and morals are just like the young people I work with. (Am I turning into an old fuddy-duddy?)
But, I don't find anyone of them worth rooting for. Not like last year... or the year before when I rooted for Evil Will...
But, Alison has played this game well. I'll give her that. She played them all like a fiddle, especially Nathan.
I could ony watch BB2 and BB3 for five minutes each....those people looked too sleazy for my taste. But I liked this bunch and watched most of the series. The only person I couldn't stand was Robert. Blech!
Ali and Jun were from the start two of the strongest contenders. I find Jun the only HG I'd like to have lunch with, she's bright and funny. Hope she wins. But can she beat Ali? Depends upon whether the jury votes for the best player whether they like her or not, or go with the person who offended them the least. Of course a case can be made for Jun being the best player because she got to the end without crushing any of the toes she stepped on to get there.
What do you think?
Tonight, we close out the season as either Jun or Alison will step out of the house half a million dollars richer. The rumors circulating indicate that the jury voted earlier this week, and since then have screened every television episode of this season. This could possibly make for some very interesting confrontations when they return to the house this evening.
In all likelyhood, I expect Jun to win by a substantial margin, though I wouldn't rule out Alison possibly winning on a fluke. I'll be back tommorrow to provide a post-season wrap up and to brag about how well I predicted the individual houseguests would do in post one of this thread.
Enjoy the show!
I've pretty much ignored the last few shows... that Alison is so annoying. (sorry guys...she's a twit IMHO)
They did on Saturday. Each jury member was allowed to ask one question to Alison and Jun. They blacked out all of this on the live feeds, but afterwards Alison was heard to say, "It's nice to know that Dana still hates me". :-)
I think Jun has played a cleaner and better game then Alison and therefore, should win the $$.
BTW...I went to the American Idols Live! show, and Julia DeMato was wonderful. I even met her parents and sister, who were in attendance.
I was wondering when it was going to hit Jun that she had just won a half-million dollars so she could express happiness about it, but she was more concerned about the negative vibes toward her permeating the room, and didn't seem amused at all until she ran into the arms of her ex.
I was surprised that Jee was so forgiving of those racial slurs directed his way. I don't think I would have been, because I believe people don't say things like that out loud "out of frustration" if they've never said them in private before. (Remember Hillary's allegedly calling an aide a "f*cking Jew bastard" despite the fact that he wasn't Jewish?)
There are plenty of ways to express frustration with someone without embracing bigoted stereotypes. I am a black man, and in the rare occurrences in which my intelligence has been questioned, I can remember only a couple of people who made my ethnicity part of it -- and in both cases, you would have expected that sort of thing from them.
