Made my first trip to this weekend's Biker Rally in Hollister, CA.
Weather was fantastic, traffic was manageable (even with in excess of 6000 bikes in attendance), people were nice -- will have to do it again next year.
My photos are here.

(Yes, I know the 1947 incident was nowhere near as bad as portrayed in LIFE Magazine and in the movie -- the above photo was staged)

Woo, good thing, I thought I was busted! I was GOING to make the obvious comparison to you, Joe, but ... well, the decorum inherent in threads like this prevented me. <|:)~

Some buddies of mine also went and took pictures of themselves with some scantily-clad silicon babes.
Maybe you'd rather see those pictures.

even with in excess of 6000 bikes in attendance . . . Cool ride! Thanks for the ping and the pictures.
Now try to imagine at least twenty times as many bikes. In Milwaukee, the organizers are limiting the number of participants in Harley 100th Anniversary celebration parade to a mere 10,000 bikes.
Regarding the staged photo, I thought I'd read somewhere that it wasn't even his bike!

I'll keep an eye open this week for a final attendance estimate. Wouldn't be surprised if it approached 10k total. The place was PACKED -- my photos hardly do it justice.
What'd you think of that all-chromed dresser? GORGEOUS!

I didnt make the Rally, but did drink a few in Hollister back in 1982.
I learned a lot, and enjoyed reading the old newspapers on the wall of the bar. Hollywood did take a lot of "poetic license".

What'd you think of that all-chromed dresser? GORGEOUS! IMHO, there is no such thing as too much chrome. Having said that, I'd lose even more knuckle skin polishing that bike than I do now dragging them on the ground!
Have you taken a V-Rod for a test spin yet? Many dealers are offering demo rides. I made the mistake of taking one for a scoot last week; now I'm Jonesing . . . URRRK!
The turning radius (lock to lock) is too limited, the instruments suck and the bend of the bars seems funny to me, but . . .
Superb controls, plush yet competent handling with lots of grip. The aerodynamics of the front trimmings deflect the wind blast nicely, allowing the leaned back, La-Z-Boy seating position to actually work, something you wouldn't expect just looking at it. And wow, what a motor! I'd love to see that motor in a Bagger or a Buell.

I made the mistake of taking one for a scoot last week; now I'm Jonesing . . . URRRK! I'm resisting the test drive for precisely the same reason (that, and it's just too pricey for my blood).
Saw a guy riding one a few weeks ago with Corbin hard bags fitted. Did *not* look bad.
