Well, the cajun shrimp was a success, and we followed that up by witnessing our neighbor's illicit, but quite good, fireworks display.

Good morning Chairman, everyone!

Those illegal, neighborhood fireworks are often quite enjoyable, aren't they.? I'd say, they are an American 4th of July tradition!

Good Morning everyone.

We live in a grove of trees, we heard every boom there was last night, but saw nothing. Must have been the same way during the war until it was in your own field.

Hillary Softens 2004 Presidential Denial This story comes out of a British interview with the former First Enabler.

Chair, I believe the title "Criminal Party" was a result of late last summer's Torricelli maneuvers in N.J. Of course, anytime during the x42 years, but especially after x42 was propped up by his own party, it was applicable.

Good that you missed it then. Haven't seen the paper yet, but I'm sure some trees were taken down thruout the area. The worst we had was a young tree on the property line which was snapped off near the ground.

Otherwise, it's just limbs, leaves, and a lot of dead stuff blown down.

It is pouring rain here, and has been for at least 2 hours. Last night on the weather channel they said this storm would cover I 70 and I 90, from Ohio through Kansas.

Suicide bombing at a Moscow concert. 14 dead, says Fox.

Now back to talking about movies (second string in charge today).

'Criminal Party' should have come from their activities to exclude military absentee ballots and eliminate on-base voting in Y2K...;-)

(BTW, don't tell your husband, but did you know that there is a Museum of Bad Art in Mass.???)

Turning on TWC...

That's a very funny site...."barely in control of the brush" LOL! I think I'D find that an appealing museum!

Oh and lysie, the tallest daisies are a mess. Do you think they'll return to their earlier shape with a little sun and drying out??

I liked their motto ('Art too bad to be ignored'), and their gala gathering ('Fine Wine and Bad Art -- It takes a LOT of Fine Wine to appreciate Bad Art!')...;-)

That's too bad. I would think that if their stems are not bent/broken ..with a little sunshine they would come back. Wind can do so much damage. With the growing season starting so late I'm would imagine they have a lot more growth in them.

Here's another museum that has possibilities: The World Kite Museum...the Kites at Work exhibit sounds promising (Marconi used kites to transmit the first long-distance radio message; 17 kites were used to haul a camera aloft to document the damage from the Great San Francisco Earthquake...)

(Oh no...I think this museum thing is starting to get ME hooked now...;-))

LOL! I can certainly understand the problem of the collection "growing exponentially". These days, that would definitely be the case. "Art Goes out the Window"...!! Thanks for finding this Bit.

I hope so lysie. They're right out front too.

Our neighbors have been doing this for a number of years. Everyone in the neighborhood shows up, and they shoot them off.

:-)

Speaking of war movies, and

habs, you remember we were talking black and white and John Wayne the other day...

I'd like to plug a great movie: They Were Expendable, John Ford's look at the PT boats in the Pacific and starring Wayne and Robert Montgomery among other fine actors.

It's often on TMC or AMC, and whenever I see it I notice something new, thanks to Ford's direction and the beautiful way it was photographed.

For example, there is one scene where Wayne and Montgomery are pressuring another officer for some much needed boats and equipment.

The other officer - Eddie Albert? - resists until the 2 remind him of an embarrassing incident at the Academy. ...The arm-twisting and threat sink in, and the third officer and old friend reluctantly agrees...

Then he walks slowly down the dock, and turns around once more, while Wayne, in charactistic graceful pose, and Montgomery, watch, their backs to the camera.

It is typical Ford....the whole end of that interaction could have been left out easily, but it wasn't. No words, but it humanizes the characters in a wonderful way.

And that is just one example of this movie's quality!
