Three times I had to give them the complete mailing addresses of every place we've lived for more than a month in the last 5 years. For us that is 9 places including 3 in Singapore. Wow! Writing out all those addresses from a list I'd researched and prepared took a while. And that was only a small part of it.

Do you think restaurants discriminate against non-drinkers?

This was a lovely restaurant last night.....quite unique....

..I had mentioned, when making the reservation, that it was our anniversary.

...We didn't order cocktails, or a bottle of wine....(our preference)...

..but the couple 4" away from us did.

..They had at least one bottle, maybe more....

..they seemed to get preferential treatment....extra attention to detail, etc., which we couldn't help noticing sitting so close.

The salad was quite nice.....the bread hard & not very tasty...

...the coffee was good, with an added touch of, I believe, real clotted cream in a separate dainty cup.

...My entree was fish....(it was good)....but when he took away my salad plate, I started to grab the knife, and he said..."don't worry, I'll bring you another, we have plenty"...

..well, I laughed...and thought nothing of it.

We were some of their first customers, and the restaurant was only just beginning to fill up, and this waiter was seasoned, had been there for a few years, I gathered.

..Well, he brought my entree, but no knife.

...later, I asked for one, and he seemed chilly that I asked.

...when we ordered dessert, I asked for a fresh cup of decaf.

They brought the coffee, more cream.........and no spoon!

When I asked for a spoon, again the chilly look, and this time he blamed it on the younger man who had refilled my coffee cup!

Meanwhile, schmooozing table 4" away, was getting coddled.

Don't mean to sound whiny......but hubby figures if they think we're not spending big bucks (other than the dinner, which wasn't cheap) on liquor....and therefore, a bigger tip...

..then maybe we become a little invisible.

Hubby tipped well....too well....and yet again, when he brought our doggie box of dessert we couldn't finish, it was just dumped in the box.

The couple next to us ...he opened their box to show them how well he packed it, and said he even put a little more cream in .....

...LOL, this was our first visit....

...and probably our last.

It was a beautiful restaurant....but if one is going to splurge & spend that much on a meal....one expects a bit more service...(and believe me, we are not persnickity customers)...

What's your take on this?
