In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".

Antaean \an-TEE-un\ adjective
1. mammoth
2. having superhuman strength *

* Indicates the sense illustrated in the example sentence.

Example sentence: In an emergency, an average person can become an Antaean powerhouse, capable even of lifting a car to rescue someone trapped underneath.

Did you know?
In Greek mythology, Antaeus was the gigantic and powerful son of Gaea the Earth goddess and Poseidon the sea god. Antaeus was a wrestler and whenever he touched his mother (the Earth), his strength was renewed, so he always won his battles even if his opponents threw him to the ground. He proved invincible until he challenged Hercules to wrestle. Hercules discovered the source of the giant's strength, lifted him off the ground, and crushed him to death. In 18th century England, the poet William Mason discovered the power of "Antaean" as a descriptive English adjective, when he used it in his _Ode to the Hon. William Pitt_:

"If foil'd at first, resume thy course
Rise strengthen'd with Antaean force."

Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.

The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

I don't really wear blues -- they clash with my eyes. ;)

I like dark on my hands for Halloween, but other than that I prefer light and bright on my hands year 'round. My skin tone is fair, so that works out best.

I have silk wraps on the nails. Otherwise, they'd be paper thin and never grow.

I do admit that I have never been to a salon to have my nails done. I have always done them myself including doing tips.

Not that I have had the time, patience or inclination to bother with that of late.

I was trying to get caught up. Dried meal worms crushed and mixed with water til soupy will work fine. How soupy deepends on baby birds stage of development. Does it look like small adult bird or like a drunk nekked shillary clintoon? Mushed up earthworms also work. Robins don't eat seed they eat insects. Earth worms and meal worms can be purchased at Bait Shop.

It's funny my nails were always brittle - until I got pregnant all of a sudden they were stronger and grew really fast. Lucky for me, unlike other parts of me, they have not resorted to the previous state!!!!

I'll have to ask the manicurist/pedicurist. It's just fun for summer.

I'm not nearly coordinated enough to do that myself, and it would take forever if I tried. So, I go to the nail salon and I'm done and out within the hour.

i don't do the fake nails. i have a weird claustrophobic feeling about having something on them. my nails are not long, but then i don't think real long nails are practical, but if i keep the stuff on them, they work fine. a good friend of mine has beautiful and natural looking fake nails, but i have resisted that so far. i have enough $$ going into the beauty regimen as it is!

My aren't *that* long! And they're mostly just silk wraps -- the fake tips are just for when I break one off.
