I just checked the NYT bestseller list here:
http://www.nytimes.com/pages/books/bestseller/
Hillary is #1 in hardcover non-fiction
Ann is nowhere on the list
Harry Potter is not on any of the lists either.
Maybe someone can tell me how they do their bestsellers, but I can not believe that Rodham-Clinton is #1, Ann is nowhere and Harry Potter is not ANYWHERE on their lists!

Harry Potter is #1 on the Children's Books NYT Bestseller List.
The NYT created this new category specifically to stop Harry Potter from continually dominating the Fiction List.
As far as Treason is concerned - I don't know.

Remember how "Profiles in Courage" became an instant bestseller when JFK's old man Joe personally bought 50,000 copies! And this book was ghost written to boot.

I'm sorry, but you are incorrect.
Nowhere is HP mentioned. Nowhere, even if you click the link for children's fiction.

Here is why:
Treason was released only last week. It takes approximately two weeks after the release date before sales are reflected on the NYT Bestseller list.
As for Harry Potter, in the beginning it was ranked on the Fiction bestseller list. Because of its popularity, and jealousy from other publishing companies (citing the series as children's books), they were re-classified as children's books and placed on said lists, which are updated at a frequency other than weekly.

According to Barnes & Noble, Harry Potter's #1, Clinton's #5 and Coulter's #7.

There is always a delay of about two weeks to get on the list from when a book goes on sale. I don't know if they fudge that or there is some formula as to when a book first gets on. It will be there next week, or there will be a helluva stink!

If you go to the small print for this list you will see that this covers the period ending June 21. I don't think either Treason or Harry Potter had really been released at that point. NYT list is always a couple weeks behind. From the small print:
Rankings reflect sales, for the week ending June 21, at almost 4,000 bookstores plus wholesalers serving 50,000 other retailers (gift shops, department stores, newsstands, supermarkets), statistically weighted to represent all such outlets nationwide. An asterisk (*) indicates that a book's sales are barely distinguishable from those of the book above. A dagger (+) indicates that some bookstores report receiving bulk orders.

The Times uses information gathered by its best-seller referent, Jayson Blair. He miraculously obtains the information without ever leaving the comfort of his Brooklyn apartment.

I finally found HP.
They broke up the children's section into 2. Children's Picture and Children's Chapter.
SLIMEY!!!!!

Ahh, thank you Mr. Brown.
Do they also count internet sales of books as well?

The New York Times best seller list is never current with today's sales. As you can also see they "fine tune" the list to skew it to their viewpoint. Eliminating "Harry Potter" is just one of their "cute" moves. Amazon.com does the same thing. Take note of Hillary's book, now teamed with "Harry Potter" as a bargain baiter. What in God's name does Hillary's book have in common with Harry Potter. The answer is nothing! However, Amazon.com is stuck with thousands of Hillary books that are not moving and they look to unload them with the more popular Harry Potter. It has a two fold purpose: one to sell the Hillary Clinton Amazon.com books that Amazon.com bought and must now get rid of, and, two, to say how well Hillary's book is doing so Amazon.com can continue to be politically correct with the Hillary worshippers. But fear not, the NYT's will have to acknowledge Ann Coulter's book over the next few weeks and the Amazon.com scheme will not work, in the same fashion that tying Hillary's book to Sid Blumenthal's book, which is now in "never/never" land did not work. To insure that Ann Coulter wipes out Hillary, the same way she destroyed that retard, Sid Blumenthal, please go out an get Ann's book and urge all your family, friends and associates to do the same. Just remember, it must have killed the NYT's to list Michael Savage's "The Savage Nation" on the NYT's best seller list! Get Ann Coulter's book today!

I don't think the NYT knows the internet exists.

Amazon sales do not count toward the NYT bestseller lists. Only books sold in "reporting" bookstores are counted. These stores are generally the larger ones in the community handling general interest books.
I'm not sure that amazon HAS to sell every book they purchase. Could be that they, like every bookstore in America, can return unsold copies to publisher. Of course, it's possible that amazon and/or certain high-volume book retailers might make a no-return deal with publisher in return for extra-deep discount. In general, publishers rarely sell out a first run of anything. They keep their print runs minimal and can go back to press very quickly if a book takes off.
HP may be the exception to all of the above.
I doubt that Lying History was beneficiary of no-return extra-deep-discount deal. Maybe so, as Simon & Schuster has to sell a ton of them to make back huge advance to Hitlery. S&S editors must have been watching Dubya's ratings going up and Bubba's going down with fear in their black leftwing hearts. However, if advance money to the Xlintons was actually a clever way to give them huge, otherwise illegal campaign contributions, they may not care if they make back their money.
When we put out the first Chicken Soup for the Soul, it took a year before it began showing up on bestseller lists. One huge church bought 100,000 copies the minute it came out (buying at deep discount from publisher), enough to blast the book to the bestseller lists if those sales had counted. But they did not. If, as some poster commented, JFK's father bought 50K copies and sent the book to the top of the NYT bestseller lists, he bought them all retail. At least from a retail outlet, who of course, was free to make some kind of discount deal, and probably did with full cooperation of publisher.
Anything to get those books on those lists! That's where the serious money starts. Wholesalers and bookstores use those lists as buying guides. They order in bestselling books to be sure their shelves are stocked for the anticipated rush of customers.
