Do we really need 'vomit alerts'?

Question - Do we really need to post articles with added extra non-news comments such as 'vomit alert'; 'puke alert'; 'hold muh beer alert'? Can people really take people seriously who post such drivel? What is the purpose? Are we becoming so used to seeing the word 'vomit' splashed across the latest posts that it doesn't affect us anymore?
Also, aren't we conservatives suppossed to have some dignity, grace and a clear non-combative way of communicating with each other? Please post here on the FR as you would speak to your co-workers, friends and family....it would be nice.
Thanks.

The rating would be set by the poster - just like the topics and stuff - for example:
Must read = MR
Vomit alert = VA
Old but worth reading = OW
That type of rating system, one that is done already by the FReepers

I'll throw in my two cents:
I don't like the term "Barf Alert", as it makes me feel queasy. I think we're all able to discern when the content will be an affront to a rational mind and can express ourselves on a higher level.
I really don't like scrolling through a thread and seeing a picture of the above, either.

Yes, we need them.
Besides, they are charming and colorful.

For one thing it lets us know that the liberal spew isn't being posted by some DU troll but rather a fellow conservative who understands the need to know one's enemies.LThat's why God gave us the ability to say "Can you believe that claptrap?" instead of the more base "Barf Alert".

In keeping with your call for improved decorum,
BARF ALERTS will henceforth be referred to as
REVERSE PERISTALSIS WARNINGS.
That is all.

I suggest UPCHUCK CHOW as a possible alternativeIck.
The idea is to get away from constant references to throwing up.

Blowing chunks is a totally natural act.
Animals do it; so can humans, no?

Oh--I missed your thread from back then.
I agree!

We have an alert system that works. I hate it when someone comes to someone else's website and openly demands change.

Humans do it, but must civilized discussion refer to it constantly?
I think not.

Speaking of alerts, how big can a signature image be without conveying some kind of covert alert to all who happen upon it ("ego alert," "extrovert alert," etc.)?
Mind you, I'm not saying yours does that. Just wondering. ;O)
