AMERICA - The Right Way!! (Day 878) [Remember the Trade Center!!]
Various News Sources and FReepers | June 17, 2003 | All of Us

Posted on 06/17/2003 4:10:58 AM PDT by Chairman_December_19th_Society

We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail!

Good morning!!

Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!

The leftist swine media are back on a rant about Gitmo - The New York Times is carrying a piece that laments about the conditions the detainees had to go through. The Times did say there wasn't any physical mistreatment, just isolation such that some detainees thought of suicide. Still waiting to read their expose on the families of the Trade Center victims and how they feel about all this.

Ed Gillespie will likely be replacing Marc Racicot as head of the RNC when the committee votes next month.

And as to what must be frustrating to the Criminal Party, newly released financial statements from the Administration show the President's advisors as somewhat better off than the average American but, even in the words of the Washington Pravda, not rich.

For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

I used to think that. ;^

We had a "wild" kitty we called "Grey." (Smokey would have been a better name for him since he was the color of smoke.) Anyway.....We fed him for about five years. We got to the point where we could pet him a little. He was pretty old when he showed up here. I fixed up a cat carrier with a heating pad for him every winter. Hubby found him dead on our deck two years ago while I was away. He buried him in the field behind our house and marked the grave with a stick and a beer can he found in the field and stuck it to the stick so I could identify his grave upon my return. You have to understand that hubby is very allergic to cats and therefore, doesn't know them. His voice actually cracked when he told me about his passing.
Understand why you were so attached and now sad. I'm so sorry.

Thanks, LBKQ. Our animal friends add joy to our life, even when they are transients and moochers. I understand your husband 's sadness, and yours, over your old stray.

What I like to think is that we gave animals like Gray and Smokey some comfort and happy times in their hard lives.

Is there a particular meteorological reason that the rain in Spain falls mainly in Virginia? Some set of once in a life-time conditions?

the cake rescue and the reunion planning,

Well, I have a confession to make. When I got to the planning session we were chatting,, I said, "Gee, it doesn't seem like we've been out of high school 35 years".

The fella sitting next to me cleared his throat and said, "Actually this is our 40th Reunion". Everyone had a good laugh, but I felt like a total idiot.

They must not be too concerned about my mental capabilities, they assigned me to develop, proof read and send to the printer the Questionaire/Profile thingy.

John, glad your family is home safely.

Speaking of flour Habs......

While attending a marriage seminar on communication,
David and his wife listened to the instructor declare,
"It is essential that husbands and wives know the
things that are important to each other."

He addressed the men, "Can you describe your wife's
favorite flower?"

David leaned over, touched his wife's arm gently and
whispered,

"Pillsbury All-Purpose, isn't it?"

Today is not one of my better days. I was turning into a nearby Mickey Dees when a kid hit the back of my car doing a lot of damage to it.

When it first happened the kid driving the car tried to get in my face really bad. I laughed at him. People were watching. I was hoping he would try to hit me... but he did not.

When the cop got there the kid tried to tell him it was my fault. I kept quiet. When it was my turn to talk I referred the officer to the damage to both cares and reminded the officer of the assured clear distance statue.

The officer agreed and sited the kid. Then the officer took me aside to ask me if it was Ok to subpoena me for the kids court trial. He said the kid was sure to fight it in court and he might need me as a witness.

That said to me that this kid has enough points on his license that if he gets convicted for this offense it will cost him his drivers license.

The officer urged me to fill out the voluntary accident report so he could use it against the kid. He explained to me how to do it. I told the cop I would be glad to testify.

LOL! that goes to Chef tomorrow.

I think I have figured it out. I wrote a brief RCA (root cause analysis) that listed everything and the attempted fixes. Ovens are out. We used both ovens, both the good oven and the possessed oven (don't ask).

We used the same flour and (most) of the other ingredients as others that were successful. The 2 differences were:

I automatically go for the oldest whatevers. That includes eggs.

I automagically keep track of that in my head (I can't remember birthdays, don't ask me how I remember which flat of unmarked eggs is oldest) First-in-first-out. Critical in a kitchen.

There was a minor technique difference in incorporating the melted butter and vanilla. That may actually have helped those that used older eggs.

I think it boils down to the age of the eggs and the pH of older eggs. I have an experiment to run tomorrow that will absolutely confirm or deny my theory.

Sorry about the car. More concerned about you. Rear-end collisions can cause injury that takes a couple of days to show up. If you start getting any pains or stiffness, please seek medical attention.

Too bad about the kid. I hate to see one go bad. Maybe this will be the thing to set him straight.

Sorry about your misfortune .... but glad only the car had damage and that you're ok.

Several years ago hubby and I had been out shopping and, after stopping for lunch, were leaving a shopping center. Hubby stopped at the stop sign but, because of the bushes planted along the entrance, he couldn't see traffic on the busy street onto which we would be turning (a U.S. highway that passes through the middle of town). So he eased the car up a little and stopped again to wait for traffic.

All of a sudden we felt this terrific jolt and a horrendous noise. We looked around to discover a city bus up on the back fender of my little Dodge Omni.

We were totally dumbfounded when the driver of the bus opened the door and asked US what in the h*** we thought we were doing. HIS bus was on the back end of my car and he wants to know what WE were doing. HA!

I guess since the bus sat up so high, the driver could see over the offending bushes and didn't have to make that second little stop. But that didn't excuse his not paying attention or not seeing the oncoming traffic and realizing that we would have to stop before pulling out.

Several of the bus passengers were indignant at the driver's attitude.

Ironically, the shopping that hubby and I had been doing that day was for a new car for me. We had only stopped at the shopping center to grab a bite of lunch. The city's insurance paid for a rental car for me for nearly a month ..... it took a while for them to decide how to settle the case (they ended up considering the car "totaled" ...... both the back and side panels as well as the hatchback would have had to be replaced .... and the car was nearly 10 years old). They continued to pay for the rental car until we had chosen a new car for me.

JRF gives good advice. I know from whence I speak.

4 years ago I was sitting at a red light, waiting for the light to turn green when a woman on her cell phone didn't see me and hit me from behind.

In Sept. it will be 2 years since my surgery.

You didn't say how fast the young thug was driving. Did you get quite a jolt? If you get to aching during the night tonite, you could put some ice in a ziplock bag and ice it down for a bit. It would probably be a good idea to take a couple (or 3) asprin before you go to bed, too.

Be sure to check in tomorrow to let us know how you are feeling. This is NOTHING to mess around with. I've been there and my life has changed forever. Of course not everyone is as unlucky as I am, but forwarned is forwarned. You must take care of yourself.

I'm going to call it a night. I have an experiment to write up and an early morning with the Chef. BTW, Trill says my cheesecake is fairly good. ;>)

So sorry about your bad day. The kid sounds like a spoiled brat. I admire your control. I probably would have wanted to sock the kid.

Thanks for your concern. I am a pretty tough old bird.

The Democrats keep speculating about how to indoctrinate a big audience on radio. They are looking for a clever host to do a Limbaugh type show. That won't work.

If I were them I would do a giveaway show that gives away thousands to the xth caller with the right answer to questions. Democrats are all about getting things for nothing. Give the listeners a chance to win dough for nothing. A giveaway show is soooooooooooo Democratic. The questions would all be left wing dogma. The questions and answers would be given on the show BEFORE the callers could call in.... A person have to listen to get the answer so they, at the right time could call it in to win the big bucks.

The questions would all be left wing dogma. The show would consist of giving ten questions and 10 answers. The caller would have to learn them all, since he would not know which one of the 10 would be the question asked when he called is a the xth caller.

The show would cost far less than Rush Limbaugh's salary and they could give away millions a year. It would draw a huge audience and all the listeners would have to do to win is be lucky and memorize left wing propaganda.

I don't think Democrats can think out side the box.
