We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail!
Good morning!!
Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!
The 45th Paris Air Show has opened. In attendence was not a single representative from Lockheed Martin, the leading American defense contrator. Lockheed cited "scheduling conflicts."
Few Iraqis have turned in their heavy weapons after a deadline set by American forces had passed. In response, United States troops have started combat sweeps in towns based on intelligence reports and are seizing caches of heavy weapons.
Scientists have stated they have found the gene responsible for causing bipolar disorder (sometimes called manic-depressive syndrome).
American forces may be part of an international force to root out terrorism in the Mideast, particularly Hamas, says Senator Lugar.
Senator Leaky from Vermont has said the White House should consult with him and other leading Criminal Party members before selecting any Supreme Court nominee in order to avoid a "traumatic national battle," in the words of the New York Times.
And in Kantafordia, the recall petition now has around 700,000 of the 900,000 signatures it needs to obtain by the beginning of September. Governor Grayout Davis has made the following comment about the recall: ""It will move us backwards and cost the taxpayers $30 million. It's just a bunch of affluent losers who are trying to spend money to throw this state into reverse."
For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

I'm finally getting around to reading the thread and do I ever feel DUMB!!! I have just figured out that the CIA you're referring to has nothing to do with the government and secret operations and spying. DUH!
(Well, when we ate lunch in the Capitol, we got the recipe for Navy Bean Soup .... getting a recipe for lima bean spread from the CIA lunchroom didn't sound completely far-fetched) .... maybe?

I have been trying to find a really good book to read... Ummm, can I suggest something for late July?
Heh, how 'bout this: I'll put you in for a review copy and you can be the official ATRW reviewer of my Taft book? I'm serious: If you want, freepmail me your address and I'll put you in the list.
Any other takers? (First come first serve... I don't know how many of these I can get away with.)

Did you have children with this woman, who now are suseptable? Oh, God no, and I thank Him for it! My kids are merely genetically ruined by me and my first wife, a far more normal being. The Lord works in strange ways.
By all rights, no. 2 should have been the mother to my children. They came out better for my earlier mistakes...

In the small, nearly rural area where we lived before moving to this part of the state we had a neighbor whose home was made of cedar siding. The woodpeckers literally destroyed one corner of the house .... when the neighbors got ready to sell the house a few years later, they had to replace the corner piece and several boards.
The birds liked to do their jackhammer act at the crack of dawn. The neighbor occasionally hunted so he was no stranger to guns.
.... One day he managed to get off a good shot and hit the dirty bird (shhhhh! don't tell anyone ..... it's illegal in our state to shoot woodpeckers). The bird was only wounded, however, and flew off into the woods.
Neighbor's son was young and compassionate ...... he went and found the bird and took it home to nurse it back to health.
His mother later confided to me that she really is against euthanasia but there are times when it is more merciful ...... to the homeowner.
Sooooo, knowing that tale, we moved up here and bought a house made of ... cedar siding. We have had woodpeckers just a few times but not enough to be a problem.

Your daughter is a beauty! No wonder you're so proud of her! And your boy looks like he's a lot of fun ... a very nice-looking lad, too.

Animal Tales 101 from DollyCali.
Cali (in my screenname) is my senior resident cat. I keep my bedroom window open enough for her to come & go. Tricky - as if too wide, racoons also come & go.. & usually come & have a super party before they go - IF THEY GO..
But cali has over the years brought me all sorts of "treasures" that are in bed with me when I wake up.
Some alive & some dead.
Rats, snakes, birds, moles, squirrels, chipmunks..
Fortunately I am a naturalist & biologist by background & not squeemish. I tell her "good girl" & put the prize outside.
Re Racoons: once a whole family came in.. I found them in a closet in my laundry room. Mom & a couple babies. Have no idea how long they were there when I found them
Funny thing is that anything that "comes in" comes in on/thru me.. as the window is over my head.
Good thing I am a heavy sleeper

I love that woodpecker story -- I'll drink a fine dose of caffien to it, with thanks to you for both!
If that damned pecker pecks back on our house, I'll follow your neighbor's example. Woodpeckers are cool and fun pecking on the pines out back, but not on the house, dammit.
Yeah, and thanks for saying, the kids are awesome. My son just admitted to his first girlfriend. They traded roses at the closing ceremonies to their school year. He's keeping his rose in a vase on the mantel. My daughter declines to admit to any boyfriends. She claims to laugh at 'em all, but I'm not so convinced. I do encourange cynicism in her in this regard.
She's so far shown a good capacity for blowing off the boys. The other day a kid who has a crush on her brushed against her "accidently." She stared at him and told him that she was going to tell the teacher. The boy didn't believe her, but as she headed to the front of the class he screamed, "I didn't do it!" He became utterly desparate as she approached the teacher. She said, loudly, "Teacher..." and paused. The boy freaked at this point. She continued, "May I go to the rest room?"
She told me he nearly died.

LOL! Sounds like she can take care of herself ok. The problems start when they no longer want to scare the boys off ..... :-)

Exactly! That's what I try to tell her. I asked her Mom to take that tactic, and she has. Of course, there's no stopping it. We're just hoping, like all parents, for a good foundation of self-confidence and, better, self-control.
I suppose another cup of coffee is necessary here.

Boy, I made a mess of that! Let me reiterate ..... it's a good thing I never took up skydiving.
Sorry ..... that just seemed to fit ....
.... the earlier discussion about woodpeckers, critters coming in the window, etc.
