Good morning. California's recall is quite interesting.

I am not sure of the wisdom of the recall in the overall scheme of things, but I am enjoying Davis's increasingly hysterical outbursts.

Yesterday President Bush made some comments about Hamas on his way out of church in Kennebunkport. He seemed very assured and optimistic. I was glad I got to see him, because the media is going on and on about the WMD thing and intelligence like this is the end of the world. I remain confident that things are not going to turn out to the Rats liking.

Good morning Chairman, everyone.

CONSERVE, it's good to be back in Ohio.

Yes, I've got a link about that nearly-successful Calif. recall petition.

The Daily Update – June 16, 2003

REMEMBER THE TRADE CENTER!!

AMERICA’S WAR ON TERROR – Day 644

The news as reported in The Washington Times:

[Note – All links go to The Washington Times’ website.]

1. President Bush is said to be seeking harsh treatment for Hamas; Senator Lugar says American forces may be needed to deal with the group.

[I seem to recall statements made in this space before the war with Iraq that terrorism in the Mideast is part of the overall problem of world terrorism in general. Nice to see folks in Washington catching up to the reality.]

Bush seeks harsh action for Hamas

2. After a raid on a bomb factory in Mecca, Arabian authorities claim a victory against terrorism.

[Why does this smell of cosmetics?]

Saudi authorities thwart terror attack

3. United States forces were ambushed at Balad, in Iraq, as they began a sweep for Saddam loyalists.

[This is a dangerous phase we are in now.]

U.S. forces hurt in ambush on convoy north of Iraqi capital

4. World Airways is granted permission to begin flights from Dulles International Airport to Baghdad.

[That’s a good sign. Progress is being made.]

World Airways wins OK to resume service to Iraq

5. According to analysts, Republicans are poised to pick up seats in the Senate in 2004 due to retirements and a large number of Criminal Party seats up for election.

[Not to mention that the intransigence of the Criminal Party may be helping also.]

Republicans poised to strengthen hold on Senate in 2004 elections

6. There is a provision in the Medicare bill due to come to the Senate floor that would provide Medicaid to legal immigrants who have been in the country less than five years, reversing a key component of the 1996 immigration reform.

[And it was sponsored by a Criminal Party member. Go figure.]

Graham seeks Medicare reversal

We shall not rest until we have cut a swath 60-miles wide through the entire left - taking all that is before us with us as we go. We shall leave nothing to the enemy that may be of value to him. We shall show him that he may count on nothing and will be able to keep nothing, not his spirit, not his soul, not that upon which he shall feed. We shall not cease until the moment we have rent through their entire land and have arrived at the sea, with our glorious victory upon us.

Good morning lysie! We looked for other places that suffered that ice storm damage, and it WAS all in Wayne Co. and your county, it looked like.

Husband and I were wondering if you could put any of that storm-damaged wood to use? Is at least some of it good for burning?

Good Morning All....

I must recommend a book to you all.

I bought The Pianist..by Wladyslaw Szpilman, on Saturday, and couldn't put it down until I finished it Sunday night....(with time out for church)

...Mind you, this is not the 'screenplay' for the movie, but the actual memoirs of a well known Polish concert pianist during the years of 1939-1945.

The narrative simply flows.....as Szpilman relates his determined will to live through horrors we can't even imagine.

This book was written immedicately after the war's end.....but was supressed by the Communist/Socialist, etc.

Only a couple years ago or so, it was re-released by Szpilman's son....

...and there is an amazing side story at the end concerning a certain German officer.

It is so worth reading......

Yes, I know Roman Polanski directed the movie version...(& my son will have a fit that I would recommond the movie too, cause he's a purist about this....

..and bless his heart, I appreciate his high standards.

..and while I agree, I did rent it, and it was one of the finest, most definitive movies I have seen about the Holocaust.

But if you prefer not to throw money at Polanski.....then PLEASE read the book!!!!

Szpilman's son said his Dad wrote the book as a catharsis......I believe he never intentioned to publish it.....or lost interst in publishing it....

.. writing it solely to find closure for himself....

..and then move on with his life....

..which he did, and found, once more, his God given ability to compose, and perform beautiful music.

It is inspiring because the will to live and the discipline to go on are achingly paramount in spite of living in the pit of Hell for a number of years.

OK, that's my report for today....

Errands to run...

Excellent, Guenevere. Will definitely note that title. Thank you so much.

Wish we'd hear from Utah Girl and MozartLover. They'd love that book....And you probably would too, Ohio!

Nita, take it easy today, okay??

Here's another Bok masterpiece:

Yes, Molly. The wild cherry amd maple we have cut and split to use in our wood stove. Much more to do in that department.

Many of the garbage trees such as aspen and poplar we will burn outside when the evenings are cool. Some aspen and poplar that are back in the woods area we will let decay.

Was your trip back home a pleasant drive?

Neets and Bit...Oh how I wish I could have joined you. Sometime soon.

Morning Chair!

Senator Leaky from Vermont has said the White House should consult with him and other leading Criminal Party members before selecting any Supreme Court nominee in order to avoid a "traumatic national battle," in the words of the New York Times.

Hey Leaky, ya moron...here's a little document you may not be familiar with, but would do you well to read...it's called the CONSTITUTION!!!

These pathetic RATs are completly panic stricken at the thought of who this Administration will nominate to the SC. They will no doubt use their same slimy tacticts to malign whomever the Administration puts forward, and they know it will expose them even furhter as the hateful obstructionist fools they are. And they fear most the fact that this fight will bring major media attention to their tactics...attention they desperatley want to avoid.

That's good lysie...about using some of it, at least.

Yes, the drive back was very, very nice!

b4, your area is so lovely! And not much traffic on that route, either. Altho the road isn't always so great...a minor detail, lol!

We would have gotten back sooner yesterday, but the Corning Glass Works was just too interesting.

I'll write some more later...

Jane and Purdue,Your article & comments about the Indy greenhouse area and your memories of those businesses! Wonderful memories, and just what I was getting at over in Wayne and Dutchess Co. NY. There are so many local stories out there...tied in with families and preserved with love.

Time to get back to "real" life....
