Caring and Storage of Photographs

This is an overview from the American Institute for the Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works. I would recommend storage in a room of your daughter's house, if it is air-conditioned, wrapped in archival, acid-free paper. NO PLASTIC!

If the photos are stored in an attic or basement, they will be subject to damage from humidity and/or insects. (Or even MICE! My mother unbeknownst to me many years ago stored a box of photos in a closet and mice got into them. Lots of things were damaged and couldn't be repaired.)

House-hunting..I remember one house the real estate agent showed me before I bought the house I posted. Mind you....it was the same listing price.

After a tour of the downstairs, the agent suggested that we take a look at the upstairs bedrooms. She opened the door leading to the stairs.....pushed aside the coats, dresses, trousers, etc.... and to my suprise the stairs were there. In order to get upstairs...we had to go through the walk-in closet.

Boy, am I glad I didn't buy that one.

Well, I always thought that open staircase in my old house was a waste of space. But I never considered converting it to a walk in closet!

I was thinking. The owners could have taken the clothes out just for the walk through...then again if they didn't take the clothes bar out it would have been a giveaway.

I actually did see a house whose interior was all purple. Every room! The COUNTER TOPS in the kitchen were lilac! The wallpaper was purple and lilac FLOCKED. The CARPET was purple! Mind you, this was 1980 and the prevailing colors were earth tones and/or avacado green/harvest gold. NONE of my furniture would even blend with that...it would have required thousands of dollars to redecorate that home, a two-story colonial!

It's overcast this morning. I've got a few extra aches and pains this morning. I'm going to try to tuff it out, rather than hit the pain meds.

I haven't moved my houseplants outside yet. I think I'll do that this morning.

Thank you both for polytoons. Nice chuckle thru the ugly truth often.

Big reunion of some FReepers these past few days.. Lysie, Molly, Neets.... will be anxious for some PHOTOS & reports.

I remain UNDER WEATHER. 8 days now. I understand this nasty stuff is the 3 week plus variety. Joy. I am fastidious re: health//clean hands & food issues. but I guess you cannot protect yourself from the air indoors that you share w/others. I rarely get sick. First time for flu/URI or cold in probably 10 years. I stay on computer maybe 10 min at stretch a few times day. Then MORE sleep

Bush has worked hard w/Palestine but it seems that we never truly get peace until one party gets their butt beat severely (like a word called war)

I thank you all for comments. I have been mostly lurking but do want to drop in to say hello & let you know I appreciate the news/views that you share.. (and yes, we too need arks here - Molly will return to tall grass - mine is over a foot in some areas & will wait until it is dry & I am healthy).. our rivers/canals have been overflowing in many areas.
