I guess it'll be a while before that type of story will involve FReepers .... 57 years is a loooooong time ..... :-)

In 57 years, I'll be 124 y.o. and too old to travel. I think we'd better not plan on trying to break their record!

Who knows what marvels of medical science will come along? May be in 57 more years we'll be spry and raring to go ...... LOL!
Not likely .... but possible.

I've finally identified the plant I was asking about (found the tag) ..... it's a david viburnum.

The ones at the nursery were neat little mounds ..... ours have gotten straggly. I'm trying to figure out how to shape them like I want them to look ... searching the internet now.

Who knows what marvels of medical science will come along? It's not likely I'd be willing to try the experimental stuff. Remember, I'm the weenie who turned down free botox shots to fix those frownie things between my eyes. The Dr & I worked on several campaigns together.

I don't believe Viburnum is hardy in this corner of the woods. Northern Zone 5 (not the NEW designation, but the one we all know and trust). I'm only about 50 miles from the Zone 4 line. And being out in the wide open spaces where everything is flat, and there isn't much in the way of protection from the harsh winter winds, many zone 5 things do not do well here.
To: Iowa Granny
Sounds like we have similar views on such things ...... LOL!
I'm the one with prematurely gray hair ..... whose age is finally beginning to catch up to her gray ...... :-)

The Star Spangled BannerOh, say can you see by the dawn's early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof thru the night that our flag was still there.
Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
On the shore, dimly seen through the mists of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines in the stream:
'Tis the star-spangled banner!
Oh long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion,
A home and a country should leave us no more!
Their blood has washed out of their foul footsteps' pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave'
From the terror of flight and the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto:
"In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

Good morning everyone. We had a rolling thunder, flashing lightening storm last night. Not sure of the rain fall yet.
Hope you all have a safe weekend.

Weatherman says rain today and tomorrow. My yard was actually dry. It was so strange to walk out in it and not sink in.
What are your plans for the weekend?
