One of the reasons I don't go for anti-depressants.
Xanax, docepin, Paxil, or Prozac are all bad ideas.
And an unmentioned side effect of the first two (XANAX, Docepin) is permanent sterility.
Yes, they do help some people.
But the rule of thumb SHOULD be, "bipolar disorder, schizophrenics should not take these."
They do not help such mental disorders at all, and should never be taken by people with those disorders.
(Honestly, anti-depressants can make bipolars worse.)
Here's the scary part: they prescribe these drugs to people without knowing fully what they do and why. They have no idea what they effect or how it does it.
Yet they'll tell you to your face that they are sure about it.
