Most are in very bad shape....Probably should have someone who is good in scanning and refurbishig to work them over and burn the results to a CD.....
I can't do it, stuff like is not my forte and then the daughter and grandkids seem to be no more interested in it than they where in where their Grandparents and Great Grandparents are buried..I started research on my Dads family once, but since I'm the last male in the line and no one was interested I said to he!! with it all.....
My Moms parents came from what was East Germany and their trail stops early...Not even a record at Ellis Island, since they came over before it started operation.....Oh well, in the big scheme of things what does it matter.....

Oh.. I think it does matter.. My SIL was doing my Dad.. but she died before she got far..
I'd love to know about my Mom and Dad..but it is sooo much work. Al's mother devoted most of her life to doing her side. She was a school teacher and knew how to go about it, but I have so little to go on with my family.. I don't even know for sure where my Dad was born, or my Mom.. My Sis knew it all, but I never wrote anything down, and know she's gone.
My kids are very interested in it all.. and my granddaughter Jessie loves it..
You never know.. someone down the line may be real interested someday.. I think it's thrilling to know who you were related to, and how you fit into history..

A wheelbarrow ride is fun... I think I have a picture of my Garrett in one full of freshly picked corn.

It's not so much that they are dirty, just faded out..The ones I've been posting are going on 80 years old and haven't had the best storage conditions....
My dad had a bunch of sisters and one brother who disappeared during WWI. Probably a flu victim...Any way, when Grandpa got killed it was the sisters in the area who buried him...First time I saw the grave I saw the last name was spelled wrong, My cousins didn't know the difference.... To me that is pitiful.....

I can't do it, stuff like is not my forte and then the daughter and grandkids seem to be no more interested in it than they where in where their Grandparents and Great Grandparents are buried.. If you will scan them at the highest resolution you can and copy them to a CD, I would be glad to restore them for you, and I am sure some of the others would too. I did all my family photos last year.
What most families do is wait till everyone who knows anything is dead to decide to trace the family. Then they are all at sea. At least tape record enough background that your great great grandkids or whoever can find the starting point, or type it up and put it on the CD with the pictures.

Yes... I know what you mean.. I had a lot of my Mom's, but have lost them since to others..:(..
You know Al's sis did a detective job on one of their Mom's relatives that was supposedly murdered way back. I think what make her efforts harder, was the fact of spelling the name wrong. She did finally find his grave from old newspaper files.. I can't remember now who murdered him or why.. I guess I'll have to read the book again.. ;)
You know, people back then didn't have the best schooling and spelled phonetically.. My Dad only went to the eighth grade.. I can't remember about my Mom...
Of course he probably got as much education in those eight years as they get now in twelve... ;)
