Thanks Grannie,

Love those flowers. We had beautiful cherry blossoms for two days before a horrific thunder storm shredded the petals, but we have a reasonable crop of cherries in our back yard now, I just got done putting two gallons of malathione spray on them. Last two years the robins and bugs got most of the crop.

Things have been progressing nicely since the acquisition; we have two people at the annual industry trade show and they seem confident we will drum up enough business so that our sales will not dip below expectations -- which will be nice for those of us who owned the company before the sale.

Have a good one-- I'll be watching the thread tho I have to be quiet with tons of work to do.

If you can find the plastic cobwebs (Hallowe'en kinda thing) draping some on the trees really discourages birds. It tends to stick to their feathers. They hate that...

Don't forget falling asleep standing at attention.
47 soldiers in formation, asleep on their feet is an almost amusing sight to behold.

That is true.
I'm not right until I've had at least a cup or two of the ol' heavy, followed by two or three cups of tea.
(Gasp and horrors! I'm a tea-totaller!)

Low Iron content in the blood can lead to weakness, pain, bleeding gums, and various other odd things such as impairment of vision.
The opposite spectrum, high blood iron, does other things.
Not sure exactly what, never did fully read it.
I was always too busy.

I learned early on NOT to date redheads.
Why, you ask?
I'm truly an oddball in my family, half the year my hair is blackish brown.
The other half of the year, it's red.
I spend half the year AS a redhead.
Red & red, don't mix.
(Unless you're lucky, and I ain't lucky. *chuckle*)

Iron is toxic in higher quantities.
The most common acidental poisoning of infants in the home is gett hold of mom's iron supplements. It is often fatal.

A shot of an iron supplement (infed) into his IV line (supposedly just a test dosage) stopped my husband's heart instantly. They got his heart going again, but he was in a coma and died a couple of weeks later. Some people are highly sensitive to iron.

I never thought of that. I was thinking of fine fish netting made out of, say 20 lb. test line.

A rather cynical thought -- on that other thread about 'buy a riot control vehicle on e-bay for only $85,000' -- someone has a dandy link to a spud-gun supplier and the state-of-the-art spud gun has an impressive recoil and a deafening blast.

One of those could serve the dual purpose of detering marauding cats and dissuading birds from hanging around.

I'm probably too cynical this morning, your halloween spider web stuff sounds like a better way to go. Thanks.

Here's a story about visiting Mt St Helens. The volcano is why we moved to Mossyrock so many years ago.

Hmm.. EEks.
Makes me wonder why I'm still moving around then.
Considering the blood iron test showed the nice little drop of blood sinking like a stone.
(I still chalked that up to having food that was high in iron on top of the vites...)

My step-daughter was listed as anemic, even though she had high iron level as well.
(She could also take a gold object, usually a ring, and write on her arm with it. The gold would leave a greenish black streak on her skin. But only during the times the docs said she was 'anemic'. And not at any other time. *Shrugs* I guess I know weird people, or the people I know really ARE from someplace else entirely.)

I'd use one of those for dissuading the local punks from partying around the corner from me.
'Course, I'd always find other uses for a riot control vehicle AND a spud gun.

Not much of that growing around here.
Most of teh cornfields are in lower areas that usually flood slightly when there's too much rain.
And lately, we've been getting more than what we've been receiving over the past several years.

(We usually have drought conditions by the first week of June... )
At least, that's my area.
Not sure about anywhere else lately due to the fact that my travels have been rather lite as of late.
(Been busy close to home, fighting with the 'puter, or drawing.)

Hay Cats and Dogs....have not had time to go back over the threads yet but wanted to ask if any of you saw FOX this morning? Dr. Laura was on with Bridget Quinn...does anyone else think Dr. Laura either gained a little wt to flush out the lines on her face or maybe had a face lift? If she had the latter she got her money's worth..she looked pretty good.

No, didn't catch her.
But I hear she was cute when she was young.
Not sure the veracity of that one, but...
If she did gain weight or have a face lift, more power to her.

Umm..
Not to be weird or anything, but a Tampax sample box just showed up in the mail.
It's a new "Tampax pearl plastic" deal..
Here's the odd part, and hope everyone catches it 'cause I ain't spelling it out:
WHY is it scented?
What is the point?
What is the purpose of it?

This just strikes me as WRONG.
It's just WRONG.
