Something else that is sot on with high IQ's:
The more intelligent the mind, the more information it needs to collect per minute.
Take away the influx of info, and the mind will break.

The way to break someone for interogation purposes who is highly intelligent is to lock them in an empty white room.
One chair, white, no windows, and one bare bulb in the ceiling. Possibly flourescent.

Since the mind in question 'needs' more info than the norm, the white room is torture, and the mind breaks.
Usually after as little as five minutes.
Some people can resist for longer, but not usually.
After that, they'd sell their whole family for a break from that room.
Or they totally break down and hallucinate.
Then the room loses it's effectiveness.
I read too much.

As for teh landshark bit, the landshark would knock on the door and say such things as "Mailman", "Milkman", or "Landshark".
The people would open the door, and this big foam rubber shark head would enter the room and grab them.
Usually after a SNL 'tv newscast' about the landshark being smart and do not open the door and such...

Ah, okers.
If it's about the blood iron thing, clue me in since I neglected to ask the nurse about it.
And the results.

Nope. It's about genius. From Thomas Disch - Camp Concentration:

"It is all a question, finally, of the nature of genius. ... the act of genius is simply the bringing together of two hitheroto distinct spheres of reference, or matrices - a talent for juxtapositions. ... it is a sort of breakdown- literally the mind disintegrates, and the old, distinct categories are for a little while fluid and capable of re-formation."

"But it's not just that," I objected, "the re-formation of the disrupted catagories, in which the act of genius consists. It's not the breakdown that counts, but the new juxtapositions that follow. Madmen can break down just as spectacularly as geniuses."

Dr. Busk smiled, enigmatic in he veil of cigarette smoke, "Perhaps that thin line that is said to separate genius from madness is only fortuitious. Perhaps the madman simply has the bad luck of being wrong."...

Ah yes, the famous, "There is a fine line between genius and madness." quote.
Couldn't remember where I'd heard it.
(I'd had other things on my mind at the time I had heard it.)

It goes back a ways, but this is the best explaination I've seen. Pretty good book, too.

If memory serves me right, and sometimes it doesn't, I was busy trying to keep my neck in one piece at the time I heard that quote.
Seems it was also the same time I discovered that it was actually possible to fall asleep in a tree.
*head scratch*
Long story.

Wow, Westy, that cam of the owls sure is great...I see the eggs have not yet hatched, so we can watch as the little owlets come into the world...and the mama owl is so clear to see....that is going to be great to watch....

Yes, the weather here is just wonderful isnt it...its also 75 here, and due to go up to 86...all week is going that way, and the skies are so blue and sunny....all those months of dismal skies, and constant drizzle, are now about to end....those 9 months you spoke about, can be so very dreary, but out summers are out of this world....not hot, just warm....and the blue skies, let us see all the mountains clearly...Mt. Rainier is out, all big and proud and snowy....
