Val, you're a photographer (read as: artist who uses cameras instead of canvas or paper)
Question: why is it so hard to find people who can actually sit still?
I.e. for drawings and such.

It's not like I am asking them to a bacchanalia or anything like that.
They just have to sit still. (Clothed or otherwise, doesn't bother me. I just need the practice in drawing people/ drawing from people.)
What gives?

Thread about Prozac.
One of the reasons I don't go for anti-depressants.
Xanax, docepin, Paxil, or Prozac are all bad ideas.
And an unmentioned side effect of the first two (XANAX, Docepin) is permanent sterility.

Yes, they do help some people.
But the rule of thumb SHOULD be, "bipolar disorder, schizophrenics should not take these."
They do not help such mental disorders at all, and should never be taken by people with those disorders.
(Honestly, anti-depressants can make bipolars worse.)

Here's the scary part: they prescribe these drugs to people without knowing fully what they do and why. They have no idea what they effect or how it does it.

Yet they'll tell you to your face that they are sure about it.

I have a SIL that's Bi-Polar.. and I think she must take all of them..

She's absolutely NUTS.. They treat her for Manic-Depression.. what do you think she takes? Personally, I'd like to see her take a little piece of lead in her right ear.. Might help my poor BIL out.. (Kidding of course) ahem....;)

Cheapo Darksheare doesn't give enough drugs. With the right drugs you can keep them motionless for days.

Well..
My step-daughter was a 'low order Bipolar'.
She was put on Paxil and it was the worst thing they did.
I myself am a 'low order' as well.
(Probably why the two of us were friends as well. We knew what was wrong in each other's heads and knew the 'WHY' of it. the "It takes a monster to recognise a monster' corallory.)

Unfortunately, it runs in my family.
I'm also cursed with a rather strange sense of humor, so there's no telling what is attributable to bipolar and what isn't. *chuckle* Keep 'em geussing!

The info on xanax and docepin was hard won by myself.
Having been put on it when I was younger (to treat a mild bout of insomnia of all things!) I know that it's pretty bad stuff.

Oh, and Paxil itself can also 'bring out' latent psychosis.
That's in it's own literature, but it isn't worded that way.
I read that part and told my step-daughter to get off the junk instantly.
Her pshrink said to 'wean' off of it.
Yeah, right.
You're better off dropping it cold turkey and dealing with it.

(I have a grandmother who is certifiable. My cousin, sister, and myself are wondering just HOW inhertiable it is. Guess I get to find out, since I'm the oldest. And it's the nice insidious type that gets more obvious with age.)

So I kinda have a personal stake in the Prozac deal there.
If I can keep one person off of it, I've completed my mission.

Correcto.

Lithium is the only drug that has proven effective with Bi-Polar dissorder.

There are a number of anti-psychotics that are helpfull with Schitzophrenics.

Antidepressants are for Clinical Depression, situational depression, Obsessive Compulsive disorder, and other neuroses.
The trouble is no two people are affected the same, so they can't just be prescribed off a chart. Each patient must be worked up on one drug after another to see what it does for them. That can take years and hundreds of visits, that insurance won't cover.

Medicating me, and the rest of my family for that matter, is a nightmare.
I have an opposite reaction to codiene.
And albuterol sulphate, for asthma, has an exagerrated effect on me.
Thorazine and demerol seem to have no effect.

Pharmocologically, my family is interesting.
Makes for some interesting hospital visits.
Along with the standard warning to the docs, "Be acreful with meds, there are no predictable reactions to them in my family."
They usually scoff, and then prescribe codiene and cough syrup for pneumonia.
With predictable bad results. *Chuckle*

What's truly scary about my grandmother, she has a high IQ.
And that helped her to hide that she was nuts, at least until age set in, or around 30. From then on, it came out in fits and starts.

Makes me wonder, it does it does.
*cue Twilight Zone theme*

True, true.
We're all out to get me, though.
(Metallica, Frayed Ends of Sanity, "Myself is after me.")
(Tori Amos, Crazy, "So I let Crazy take a spin.")

Pxail's own lit says that..
God I hate meds.

Personally, that was a frightening time for me.
Not only was the step-daughter on Paxil, but she was also on Depo-Provera.
Depo is also proven to set off bipolars.
(She went off into angry ranting hysterics on me one day, caught what she was saying, and apologised profusely. I just sat there with a small smile on my face because I knew what was going on. One has to wait it out when that happens.)

A word to the wise, don't smoke no dope while on Paxil.
It can combine with the Paxil to form a toxic substance to kill you.
(Mentioned in some literature that doesn't come with Paxil.)
I myself have no wish to find out, nor do I wish anyone I know to find out.

The step-daughter did, and I didn't approve.
(Even when she and I were friends before marrying her mother. LONG boring story.)
That seemed to help her bipolar better than anything else, unfortunately.
Truly odd, considering that THC acts as a downer, and bipolars should not take downers of any kind.

I don't smoke at all.
I wouldn't be able to lurk through the woods or wander the night at all if I did. / joke.
