Woman Becomes Upset Trying To Take Back A Television At Best Buy
Date: 05/11/2003 Time: 6:45 pm Location: 9521 Viscount (Best Buy) Arrested: Narcissa Barnhill, 45 years of age, 1600 block of N. Lee Trevino Charge/Bond: Aggravated Assault With A Deadly Weapon/ $3,500 dollar bond
At 6:40 p.m. officers from the Pebble Hills Regional Command were dispatched to 9521 Viscount at the Best Buy on a Arson in Progress. Upon arrival the officers learned from witnesses that Narcissa Barnhill had small glass bottles filled with gasoline which she ignited and threw at the business. From the invstigation it was learned that Barnhill threw two of these bottles at the business. As several employees from the store began attempts to detain her, she threatened them with additional bottles. As the officers arrived at the scene they saw Barnhill driving in a 2000 Honda Accord and immediately initiated a traffic stop. Barnhill become stuck in traffic at the intersection of Giles and Phoenix and was placed in custody without incident and booked into the El Paso County Jail for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. The officers learned through their investigation that Barnhill had attempted to take back a television set earlier in the day and was told that she needed a receipt. Barnhill became upset and left the television at the store and later returned with bottles of gasoline. Nobody was injured and no structures caught fire. Investigators from the El Paso Fire Department will be conducting a follow up investigation and additional charges are pending.
That's wrong. She stole that set, fair and square.
I hate when that happens. Sometimes it even happens to me.
A number of years ago, I was having dinner with my ex-wife. I wanted her to pass the salt but I had a slip of the tongue and said "You eff'in b***h, you've destroyed my life."
Hate when that happens.
"I'm going to set the building on fire..."
LOL! That's what I thought, too. Who thinks up these names?
The store doesn't have record of her purchase of the set and its ID numbers? C'mon.
I'm not defending her but....
I had a situation at Circuit City where I bought a 27in TV and didn't get the extended warranty. I felt that with the cost of the TV it didn't justify extending the warranty for more money, plus everyone knows they make a huge profit off those things. Anyway, because I didn't get an extended warranty, they wouldn't back me when the TV went well within the manufacturer's warranty. I would have to get the TV to an "authorized dealer" myself, over 25 miles away, even though I'd paid for delivery. (Like I would've paid for delivery if I could lug the TV around myself.)
Best Buy, like Circuit City is a big step backward from Sears, the local TV store, even WalMart or KMart, if you need backing on the manufacturer's warranty. Unless you've paid their extortion (ie: "extended" warranty) Isn't it just a little unreal that these huge stores aren't authorized dealers, yet they sell warranties for coverage beyond what they aren't authorized to do?
Grrrr........
Do not mess with the stapler...
That was my first thought too. Anybody who names a daughter 'Narcissa' is asking for trouble.
There's no telling what damage she would have caused, if she had been able to have a gun...
