Lone Star Chat
Texas ^ | Saturday, May 10, 2003 | A Texan

Rally for America!

Our Texas Locale page recently got very busy on the unusual topic of Ouija boards and such. Archy suggested a Lone Star Thread That Will Not Die. Like those darn Hobbit threads with 30,000+ posts.

This is not my thread and I'm not going to baby sit it every day. I just gathered the kindling and y'all have to start the fire.

Cinco-De-Mayo?... Isn't that about the load of Mayonnaise going down with the Titanic? *Grins*

I wonder if the Mexicans in mexico celebrate the 4th of July?

I am feeling nostalgic, so here is a picture of my daughter with one of her toys!

Good point! (Only when they come to this Country...)

You almost wonder who's gonna be the last one out... and will they turn off the lights?

Nice picture. Can't wait to see the looks on your daughter's boyfriend's faces when they see some of her toys.

Breakfast anyone?

I've got steak and eggs; fresh, hot, homemade biscuits, bacon and sausage, hash browns a few early sliced fresh tomatoes and plenty of juices. Salsa, butter and several kinds of homemade jelly are on the table. Hot, heavy, dark coffee is on the stove. Oh, and I just make up some gravy to go with them biscuits. Dig in and enjoy.

I got pinged but my take on ouija boards since this has become a popular subject is I had one at one time but I use to be able to mentally move that object on the board, so I am not sure how much reality there is to the thing.

I work with a fella who was originally from California and we were dicussing the lack of a "decent" Mexican food restaurant anywhere nearby. I mentioned one I had seen near the office with a "Tex-Mex" sign on the door..... he said, "Stay away from there - it is awful".....lol

And yes, I'll find that recipe and send it to you today......

It looks rather like your daughter and my youngest daughter would get along famously. She began by enjoying target practice with handguns but now also likes skeet shooting with my dad. Although, we live too far away for her to get to do that as often as she would like.

Sad thing is, I moved from central Texas to Wichita Falls almost 2 years ago and I can't find any great Mexican or Tex-Mex up here. Let's just say Taco Bell and El Chico are about as good as it gets. ho hum.

My sister lived in Albuquerque for about 8 years. I still laugh when I think about how everyplace offered green chiles with the food......we had a cheese pizza with green chiles one night (and it was fabulous!) and at Burger King once my sister ordered a cup of green chiles with her burger.....lol

Not that I'm complaining now...... I love green chiles.........

Well you're in my old stomping grounds.....born and raised......... Have you tried Casa Manana - red tacos...... greazy as all get out, but pretty good...... and if you haven't tried Stanleys then you are in for a treat...... get a beanie burger..... it's a hamburger with refried beans, crushed fritos, nacho cheese and onions/jalapenos if you can handle it...... messiest thing you'll ever try to eat but fabulous! Also, a Hill Special is amazing...... it's a huge sandwich with Stanley's ham, brisket and sausage......

Eaker, we moved here 4 years ago - we had a business in West Texas (communications), sold it and my husband accepted a job here. Unfortunately he has been laid off all of this year and I've returned to work for the first time in 11 years....... it has been an adjustment, but we're surviving........ he is currently trying to get back into the Marine Reserves. He was active duty for 3 years, served in Beirut in '83, then has been in Reserves off and on since then........ but talking about going back in........
