O'Reilly rant on "white prom" in Georgia
Posted on 05/06/2003 5:44:53 PM PDT by freeangel
O'Reilly is ranting about a group of kids that decided to have a dinner and dance paid for with private funds who didn't include black classmates. The school already had an integrated prom which was attended by many. Since when did freedom to associate with others become a racist issue? He also has a poll going at his website.

it's sad actually. these bigots are going to have a very hard time making it in the world cause they don't get to choose who they work with or for. these parents have screwed up these kids lives and are too stupid to know it.

Since when did freedom to associate with others become a racist issue?Someone needs to ask that question of Robert L. Johnson, Founder and CEO of Black Entertainment Television and The RLJ Companies

They have the 1st Amendment right to associate with whomever they want. O'Reilly has the 1st Amendment right to call them bigots. Since they didn't invite just their friends, but said the prom is open to any student as long as he or she is white, I think O'Reilly has a good point.

A private party; not a school-sponsored event; held off campus; financed with money earned by those that attended...
O'Reilly has his pannys in a bunch over this?!? Sheeezzz!

Yes,O'Reilly is really going off the deep end on this one.
I doubt if this will ever be a problem with his children because they will be in private schools.
He wanted the governor to go to the integrated prom in a show of support but then I'm sure other high schools would wonder why the governor didn't attend their integrated prom.
Now that's ridiculous!

In college, there were black only fraternities and black only dormotories. There are "historically black" colleges that make any white student uncomfortable, although they cannot discriminate.
I was excluded from parties in high school because I was not a jock or student leader, and that was exclusionary. The fact is, life is filled with being excluded based on many different criteria. Is it fair? No, but is LIFE fair? Of course not.
I think much is not being reported. There may have been racial incidents, or tense relations between blacks and whites where one or the other side was to blame. WHO KNOWS? Maybe parents wanted an event free of incidents and possible fights. This is the last school event of the year and it should be fun and trouble free.

O'Reilly will be angered that 55% of the voters on his online poll support the whites only prom.... look at www.oreilly.com
Obviously, most people online do not share his rage.

O'Reilly is in desperate need of a sabatical........a long one. He's irrational and looks worn out and beat up.
I thank him for getting rid of the terrorist professor in Florida, but for the most part he's usually off the mark.
He and Geraldo have driven me to MSNBC, with renewed respect for some of their hosts.

O'Reilly is having Neal Boortz on his show tonight. I think Boortz will settle the issue.
