The Dixie Chicks are fighting back if that is what compounding the mess that they are in can be called.
Those who have already previewed the appearance tonight on ABC's Primetime Live with Diane Sawyer say that they have failed miserably.
It's billed as an 'apology' but they don't really apologize.
They also take their clothes off for Entertainment Weekley because--and get the muddled thinking here--because 'It's not about nakedness, it's about clothes getting in the way of labels.' Huh??
They also cringe about death threats.
But the worst is Martie Maguire's relevation that her grandfather is being harassed at a nursing home. So long girls, have a nice life.. (back to playing in Mexican Restaurants)

I'm ashamed that they are from my Great State of Texas. I'm ashamed that I used to drive to the West End in Dallas just to hear them (the old version, before Maines.) I'm ashamed that I liked their music.

Cross Canadian Ragweed Cooder Graw Jack Ingram Charly Robinson ( married to Emily of Dixie Chicks) :( Robert Earl Jones As long as they're not too "Austin" (i.e. liberal). I guess even if they are "Austin", I'll accept them if they'll just SHUT UP AND SING.

They sold out their shows before mains made her comments. They have refused to issue refunds to anyone. Search for Toby Keith tickets
maybe one or two.

I think Wide Open Spaces is a song about their brain.

Go to ebay and search for "dixie chicks tickets" and see what you come up with. There's about 800 individual offers to sell. And compare the bids to those of other concerts -- last time I checked, they weren't even close.

We all have had the experience of believing that people would wake up, see the truth that we see, and act accordingly...yet Bill Clinton was RE-ELECTED....I believe there will be SOME empty seats at their concerts, but I don't believe there will be anything massive (which I would LOVE to see). Most people are NOT like us, who will refuse to give money to those who we see as anti-American...sadly, a majority, although they may not agree with them, will seperate the music from the political posturing, and still buy the music, and still go to concerts.

This, however, will definitely throw them over to the pop market. I'm not sure that their bluegrass roots will have staying power in the pop arena. I'm sure that they have a following there, but it's the country crowd that puts them over the top.
Instrumentation, which is a big part of their talent and identity, is bluegrass all the way.

Or play a free USO concert (as the South Carolina legislature asked) , but I doubt they would ever do that...

Yes I know. However, when they released Landslide they did two versions--one for country, one for pop. Something tells me that Natalie may well leave the group as a result, somewhere down the line. She's the force behind the group.
(And hey, I saw a clip of her putting her head in her hands during the Sawyer interview--tears or...?) I'll have my bs detector out tonight.

I hear you and you may be completely correct. But I still believe voting for clintoon and spending ones money are two different things. With the toon, many people who were disgusted just didnt vote (not including the Perot factor and Bob Doles pathetic campaign). When one is in the music store with twenty dollars to spend, the decision on where to spend it completly in their control.

Ya think there was a touch or air brushing there? (like half the magazine cover)

South Carolina is having an 'alternate' free patriotic concert the same night as the Vichy Chicks with the Marshall Tucker Band.
Any one with Dixie Chick tickets who brings them gets a free barbeque reception with the band and VIP seating plus free beverages.

Just look at the ass, for starters. Compare the two pics and that second one is "real". No way that top one didn't have about 15 lb. airbrushed off it, and some very selective sculpting was done.

Most of our military would not show up at a Free Chicks concert. Those who did would carry signs saying, "We are embarrassed that the Pixie Stix are form the US." I'm afraid the hole they are still digging makes the Grand Canyon look like a gopher hole. Dims hate country music so they have no fan base any longer. Too bad. I can hear Gnatalie in her new career now, "BLT hold the mayo and one cheese burger drag it through the garden".

I agree about Natalie possibly leaving the group, but think she will flop as a single. She's got the voice, but not the "look."
Let me know tomorrow what you think of their performance with Diane. I doubt that I will watch.
