The Dixie Chicks are fighting back if that is what compounding the mess that they are in can be called.
Those who have already previewed the appearance tonight on ABC's Primetime Live with Diane Sawyer say that they have failed miserably.
It's billed as an 'apology' but they don't really apologize.
They also take their clothes off for Entertainment Weekley because--and get the muddled thinking here--because 'It's not about nakedness, it's about clothes getting in the way of labels.' Huh??
They also cringe about death threats.
But the worst is Martie Maguire's relevation that her grandfather is being harassed at a nursing home. So long girls, have a nice life.. (back to playing in Mexican Restaurants)

Sorry chicks, this one can't be fixed by getting naked.

ROFL!!!

Maybe they used body doubles so they can avoid potential scandal. This, however, will definitely throw them over to the pop market. I'll be interested to hear how their country fans respond.

Gosh...their USA tour begins May 1. What a surprise to see them trying to rehabilitate their image.
Too late girls. Your apologies aren't perceived to be sincere. You're the Clintons of Country Music.

'It's not about nakedness, it's about clothes getting in the way of labels.'
It's like all the babes who pose nude for Playboy when asked why did you do it? And they all answer, well it's done "tastefully".

Dianne Sawyer is a creepy and extremely well paid purveyor of cultural soft core smut and other media agendas. Didn't Dianne Lawyer used to work for Nixon?

800 offers to sell probably doesn't represent more than 10 seat per concert nationwide, and considering that they have sold out serveral hundred thousand seats, is not a realiable gauge. However, if I am wrong, I will celebrate being so.

People that know Natalie Maines know that this is nothing new for her. She was rude and made fun of people all her life. In Jr. High and High School she was the snot that no one liked but always looked down on everyone else. She has always been a hootie poot and deserves all of what she is reaping. Natalie has never fooled any of us who knew her growing up. Tonights media blitz is only a boost for their music, this is all playing into their hands. I hope people who hear their music on radio stations will just call those stations and say they do not want to hear them every time their songs are being played. I will not be watching tonight.

look at Jane Fonda. She made a fortune on fitness videos....the general public just isn't willing to boycott to any great extent...Yes, but Jane Fonda's core audience was not/is not conservative. The Vichy Chix audience is.
I honestly enjoyed their music, and am a country fan, but now I will not buy their stuff. I do not believe I am alone.

I'm disappointed that "Vichy Chicks", "Blixie Chicks", "3 French Hens," "Dixie Twits", didn't make the tattoos. WHERE DID WE FAIL?

I remember Ernest Tubbs, Hank Snow and Roy Acuff, but who in the hell are the dixie chicks? by the way, I am 70 and retired. I'm mid-30's, and this is the ONLY country music I'll listen to. Add to this list Bob Wills and Hank Williams. You might look into putting one of younger fiddler Alvin Crow's CD's on your Christmas list.

FReepers who are interested in hearing GOOD country music and paying tribute to a musical pioneer should make the trek to Turkey, Texas this weekend for the annual Bob Wills Days there.

OK, it's pretty clear the Entertainment Weekly editors digitally removed around 30lbs from Natalie Maines. At least..........shudder.........

You're in good company! This morning on Fox and Friends, Henry Kissinger was asked what he thought about the Dixie Chicks, and he said he didn't know who they were.
After being informed of the situation, he said, "They should be ashamed of themselves."

I can pick up my local paper and still find adds by people looking for DC tickets. I bet if you call the phone number listed, you'll hear a voice that sounds suspiciously like one of the following: Lloyd Maines or his bleached-blond wife
Simon Renshaw, their manager
Sheryl Crow

Sorry for my lack of eloquence. I have a terrible habit of saving words and using bad ones at that.
