The Dixie Chicks are fighting back if that is what compounding the mess that they are in can be called.

Those who have already previewed the appearance tonight on ABC's Primetime Live with Diane Sawyer say that they have failed miserably.

It's billed as an 'apology' but they don't really apologize.

They also take their clothes off for Entertainment Weekley because--and get the muddled thinking here--because 'It's not about nakedness, it's about clothes getting in the way of labels.' Huh??

They also cringe about death threats.

But the worst is Martie Maguire's relevation that her grandfather is being harassed at a nursing home. So long girls, have a nice life.. (back to playing in Mexican Restaurants)

The Chicks' apologies fall flat because they don't get to what they are apologizing for. In other words, what was meant by being "ashamed" that the President was from Texas? Ashamed about what? Absent an explanation of what it is about Bush that causes them shame, the apology is BS and CYA.

My question to Ms. Maines: since when does the President or even the Pentagon for that matter have to answer your questions? Does she expect a private briefing on the war?

ABC has been playing snippets of the interview, and she comes across as a spoiled, simpering brat. She's not sorry, that's certain. And if she's gotten death threats--what celebrity doesn't? Get over it, Ms. Maines. And while you're at it, get over yourself.

Sadly, I do not believe their careers will suffer that much....a majority of people do not put their money where their mouths are....look at Jane Fonda. She made a fortune on fitness videos....the general public just isn't willing to boycott to any great extent. The Hollywood left insult this country on a contiunal basis, but Americans continue to fill the theaters. I do believe the Dixie Chicks will see REDUCED sales, and SOME empty seats...but they will not suffer to the extent that their stupidity deserves.

None of these charts had the Dixie Chicks anywhere on them. I am wondering if the Billboard album charts (based on sales) is based on sales from a few weeks back. I say this because Darry Worley's new CD came out last week and he was nowhere in the top 20 albums, and I'd figure with all this airplay, he'd be getting more sales.

Here again it proves to lessons. 1. They are paying way too much money to people that are on their staff who do not know what they are doing. The peter principle at work.

2. If they needed to know the reasons for going to war down to the very last detail, they could have had a career in politics instead of music.

They may now get a chance to be in politics, cause a lot fewer people will be going to see them and buy their music in the future.
