A man was sentenced Monday to up to four years in prison for performing a castration in his kitchen last year.
Suo-Shan Wang, 29, was arrested in June after a man began hemorrhaging outside his home following a voluntary castration. Authorities say after the procedure, the men shared a slice of pie at the same table on which the castration was performed.
Wang was convicted on April 4 of practicing medicine without a license, a felony. He was given a sentence of 14 months to four years.
In handing down the sentence, Circuit Court Judge Fred Mester stressed that such acts "will not be tolerated in this society."
Wang told the court Monday that he was trying to help people who were unable to get similar services elsewhere, but that he regretted his actions.
The man who underwent the castration did so because he wanted to curb his sex drive because he had a sexually transmitted disease, prosecutors have said.
Wang's attorney argued that the defendant never claimed to be a doctor and did not charge for the surgery.

The funny thing is, if the courts rule that sodomy cannot be restricted by laws based on Judeo-Christian beliefs, then this act would be legal as well because the Bible said if an eye offends you, pluck it out. If the [man tool] offends you, [etc.].
We may have empty jails because just about every act that sends people there will become legal!

"Here are your nuts in a bag and before you go how about a nice slice of pie." Lots of symbolism in that.

Whoa I hope he cleaned that knife before he cut that pie.
Something tells me after being castrated the last thing on my mind would be "Hey I think I would like some pie, thanks!!"

I'd say after that surgery, the patient has had his last "slice of pie"...

I have a license to practice medicine. But if I did that,
I'm sure the state medical board would have issues with me...

I would say the surgeon should change his last name to:

Isn't this just another example of the heavy hand of government regulation interfering with the marketplace?

Wang told the court Monday that he was trying to help people who were unable to get similar services elsewhere, but that he regretted his actions. Just when I was entertaining a career change, but couldn't think of a field to go into, this article is posted. Hmmm....
