I duly concede nothing can beat Fred McGriff's ongoing quest to be the first player to hit a home run in 42 major-league ballparks.
It takes plenty of talent and a keen sense of self-importance to try so hard to become the answer to a trivia question.
But I'm afraid McGriff inadvertently has overshadowed my own quest to be the first sportswriter to eat junk food in every major-league park, an anti-Atkins odyssey that came to a conclusion last weekend at PNC Park in Pittsburgh.

Just so you know..
I cried in my pillow for much of the night when the ball went through Buckner's legs in 86...
Call me a fag....
I don't care....
I died a little that day...

PNC is a great park. But it is tainted because it was built with tax dollars. The best retrofit park in the world isn't retro at all, but the real McCoy-- Chicago's own Wrigley Field. And I say that as a near resident of Pittsburgh.

i am listening on line weei best baseball announcers around.
we just need to shore up the pen and we will be fine

Stanley, what a load!
When he came in he didn't throw a strike.....
Watch the tape, I think he was smoking crack in the clubhouse....
Sad...so sad.

Ah, Dodger stadium, probably my favorite ball park. I loved going there as a kid. Now I live in Cleveland and go to "The Jake." It's alot better than old Municipal Stadium, that place was a tomb.

13-6, not bad.
Let's hope they can keep this up when they face the Yankees.

Does anyone remember the FR general login that some freeper did? There's some name/password combo that works on almost all news sites.

I've never understood why people say Buckner lost the series.....when that ball was hit to him the game was tied. If he fields it and touches 1st base then its still tied and we go to the 11th inning. No sure thing the red sox would have won.

I go to a LOT of NCAA baseball games. Great for heckling. Not enough crowd to drown out your insults...even stanfUrd being top 10 for decades doesn't get more than a few hundred out... I wait for 1st basemen to eat grounders, just to use the B U C K N E R !!!! taunt. helps you figure out the real baseball fans by their groans and laughter...

Your Red Sox are ahead now 2-0, but they are playing in the best ballpark tonight -- The Ballpark In Arlington.
To: anncoulteriscool
You are right...
The game was lost by the bullpen.

The only time I ever went to Municipal stadium was in 1987 or 1988 and there was a pro wrestling exhibition after the game and there were actually people showing up at the game in the 7th and 8th inning who just wanted to see the wrestling.

AOL-TimeWarner is the devil.
For further examples, go read about their attempt to put out a new Superman film, now being attempted for the 8th year, without one reel of film shot. Unbelievable.

Oh, and how about the new Tiger stadium? Great park but I thought I was gonna get mugged on the way out to my vehicle. Glad I had my off-duty gun with me. Tiger stadium is in the middle of a rat-hole.
