FENWAY PARK.....
home of the BEST second place team in the WORLD!!!!!!

Fenway is a larger than normal Triple A park. The best stadiums are Camden, Wrigley and Texas/Arlington stadiums. KC is also a very fine stadium w/ great, courteous ushers/usherettes.

Tomorrow, I'll go to my 31st Major League stadium, the new stadium in Cincinnati which replaces the disaster formerly known as Riverfront.

We moved here in '77, so I don't remember all those things. I'm looking forward to seeing the Phanatic parachute in or do something similarly silly.

KITE MAN!!! :)

Still, it'll nice to see a game without having to bring binoculars (which we used to do when I was a kid).

I just hope they don't go the corporate logo way for naming it (they'd darn well better not, since it's being paid for by the city and the state). I'd like to see something like:

Independence Park
Freedom Field
Liberty Field

Or something to that effect. This is Philly, after all.

Those are all good names. How about Greg Luzinski Field at Many Trillo Park? (hah.) Seriously, I wouldn't mind if they could work Richie Ashburn's name into some part of it. One of the things I missed most when I moved from Philly was listening to Whitey and Harry call the game. "He looks runnerish, Harry."

Yankee Stadium is a dump. Unless you are one of the first 100 people to show up there is no where to park, Last time I was there I had to pay to park in some cratered out dirt lot behind some warehouses. Just where you want to be when your are in the Bronx.

Shea stadium is so much better.

I'll never forget in 1993, Whitey speaking of Jim Eisenreich:

"That Eisenhower is a heck of a player."

Olsen Field at Texas aTm University (aka Aggieland) is pretty damn special. I remember hearing that Pete stInkavilia (spelling?) loved playing at Olsen when he played for OSU... he said the outfield was as smooth as a bowling alley lane.

Very fan friendly too: before the train right-of-way was invoked, folks in pick-up trucks would park on/near the tracks just on the other side of the right field fence and catch two.

Gig 'Em!

The only thing world class in Philly is the cheesesteaks cause it sure aint the fans.

Hey !!! I'm a good fan. I don't boo , I haven't spit on anyone, I haven't thrown beer or batteries or water ice. There are some fans who act like drunken louts at games - not too many at Phillies games. Mostly, at football games, which I don't attend.

I've never understood why people say Buckner lost the series.....when that ball was hit to him the game was tied. If he fields it and touches 1st base then its still tied and we go to the 11th inning. No sure thing the red sox would have won.

That's true even if Buckner fielded the ball being such a slow roller and Buckner playing almost crippled Mookie Wilson would have probably beat it out anyhow.

Since we are talking "What Ifs", If Ray Knight didn't make that error in the 7th the 10th inning never happens or if Tim Tuffel didn't make the game losing error in game #1 the outcome of game #6 doesn't matter.

Actually the biggest mistake in game #6 was Why in the hell was Clemens taken out so early?

Red Sox fans it's not the curse of Babe Ruth - God is punishing you for the Kennedys

Yeah, Phillies fans are almost mild these days. Used to be a lot more hostile 20 or 30 years ago. I kind of miss that. Booing Mike Schmidt was one of the favorite pasttimes in Philly back in the good old days.

Go to a Flyers game. Not rowdy like at Eagles games, but a lot more vocal (esp. on bad calls).

Featuring natural grass and a dirt playing field...

Reminds me of those Hostess Fruit Pies that say "made with real fruit". Grass and dirt at a baseball field...will wonders never cease?

...at seven buckaroos a pop you can't afford to get drunk and obnoxious, which is probably why Yankee fans don't like the place... ;-)

Who said Yankee fans needed to get drunk to be obnoxious?

"...couple guys I work with were at the infamous 10 (or 25) cent beer night against the Rangers."

It was dime beer night. Funny thing, most folks don't remember -- just two weeks prior to the famous Dime Beer Nite Riot & Forfeit at The Tombs, the Rangers had hosted the Tribe in Texas.

And it was Dime Beer Nite in Arlington Stadium! The crowd got rowdy and, whaddyaknow, some words were exchanged between Indians players and fans, some beer cups were chunked and C Dave Duncan, among others, came over the dugout roof into the box seats.

After a brief tussle, a couple of players, a coach and about two-dozen fans were excused for the night.

So, when the Rangers visited Cleveland for Dime Beer Nite, you might say there was some "history"...
