Here is somthing I thought was a good deal...
Many years ago, after my dad died, and my mom was getting worse with Alzheimers, I decided that mom needed to come live with me and my family...
Now mom and dad lived in California, and I lived in the state of Washington...we packed up just about everything in moms house, and needed to rent a Ryder truck to haul her stuff up to Washington....they charged us about 1300 dollars for the one way trip from California to Washington State....
But they said, if we were going the opposite direction, Washington state to California, we could have probably gotten the Ryder rental truck for free...
Thats because, so many people were moving out of California, ,and moving to other states, with the Ryder...so the Ryder wound up in the other state, and California actually had a shortage or Ryders...it was costly to hire Ryder employees to fly to the other states, and then drive back the Ryders to California...so if someone was moving to California from another state, and wanted to rent a Ryder moving truck, if the person moving asked, Ryder would probably agree to let them have the truck for free, and might even provide some small funds for gas, just to be able to get the truck back to California...

I was at the supermarket checkout line with about $15 worth of spices in containers (garlic powder, basil, oregano, etc.) The checkout lady said, "Why not buy your spices in bulk, surely you have containers at home?" I did that and filled up all my spice containers for about $3.
